First time here. Great coffee, but the service was just weird. The barista wouldn’t look at me or say anything the whole time. When I went to pay, he even stepped back like he didn’t want to talk to me. Super awkward vibe — made the whole thing uncomfortable.

Herkimer is my no.1 spot for having latte in Seattle so far. It has a great balance of chocolatey, earthy and hint of fruity notes.
Prices are also lower than most places.
It could be a little difficult to find a table, many people come here for working. This location has a park across the corner though.

Love the 8 oz size!!! Coffee of my dreams. Most importantly, the bench inside for seating is so very very comfy and I am literally never comfortable ever. 10/10 would write an essay here and have it be good

Many reviews praised on how good this place is, I even saw the one before me got her latte art for her to-go coffee ☕️
When it was my term, there is no love, no latte art, just dumped milk with foam. 😭😭😭
Travelled all the way from San Francisco, and this is it…
Heart broken… 💔

Our favorite neighborhood coffee shop! And the music is good too!

Decent coffee and pastries. Cute and cozy atmosphere that fits right into Seattle.
I wanted to try this place out before coming with friends, since I moved right across the street last week, but I'm on the fence about it due to service. It was quick, but I didn't feel welcome at all as a customer and still tipped cash.
I'm a barista, too, so I get it to some extent, but I always smile and welcome customers. If I don't recognize someone, I ask if it's their first time in and offer my help. I just thought it was an uncomfortable interaction—I'm smiling, tip, and say thank you, but you're barely going to acknowledge me other than when you have to look up to take my order and hand it off to me (it wasn't busy either, there was only one person behind me in line right when my order was ready). I don't expect a conversation and I'm not chatty myself in these interactions, but I feel like a bare minimum in service is a greeting and thank you.
For me, what makes or breaks a café is its baristas—they're the heart of a coffeehouse.

I have been here so many times that I decided today was the day to finally leave a review, as Herkimer Coffee, as it has become my go to coffee shop for the past 2 yrs!

I happen to be a local business owner down the street from Herkimer, at Seattle Records.

I would never be able to do what we do every day without Herkimer!

The staff is so friendly and nice and they know our drinks by heart!

I love the design of this shop and they always have great background music without being too much! It’s not as loud as many other sit down coffee shops are!

If you are ever in the U-District at the top of The Ave, this is a must!

Highly recommended!

It’s great! They kinda discourage you from working or studying there, but the coffee is fantastic.
