My favorite cake in Seattle. Plan to have a honey crumb cake at all my important party celebrations.

Honey Crumb Bakery is wonderful (both for classes and for the cakes they make). We have purchased cakes from Carla on multiple occasions, first for our own COVID elopement wedding and then for my in-laws birthdays.

I also recently took their Cake Decorating 101 workshop. Carla was an incredible instructor. So funny, warm, and helpful. She patiently explained each step of her techniques and was always nearby to offer a helping hand with helping us tint our buttercream colors, frosting, and then painting our cakes! The video below is the cake I made after just a couple hours of instruction. I have no doubt that Carla could have made a better version of it by herself within 15 minutes or less, but I'm thrilled with what I learned, and now feel confident enough to try it on my own at home!

Carla and the honey crumb team do an amazing job. Top notch delicious cake, fun classes, highly recommend!

Dietary restrictions: Kitchen does not have a dedicated area for gluten free (or other restrictions) work, however honeycrumb does do their best to avoid contamination for vegan, gluten free, dairy free. They will work with you to come up with an option that works for your dietary needs in most cases, in my experience.

Carla is INCREDIBLE!!! We ordered our 3 tier wedding cake through Honey Crumb and were so incredibly thrilled with our experience. The tasting was so easy and fun and helped to narrow down the choices. Throughout the planning process, Carla was extremely communicative, detailed, and organized. And the cake itself - I mean, WOW! Look at that beauty. And it tasted even better than it looked. We can't thank Carla enough for delivering such a perfect cake and providing an incredible experience throughout.

Our cake was beautiful and delicious, but we had a disappointing customer service experience.

We submitted a deposit to reserve the spot for our cake before tasting, because what drew us to the shop were their sugar flowers. We assumed the quality of cake would be comparable to other bakers with less exciting decorations and felt comfortable going forward, especially since the shop was so well reviewed.

While I understand that having one tasting day per month, having those samples be pickup only, and offering a very narrow pickup time is convenient for the staff, it is not convenient for customers, especially since it takes 2 tastings to sample the entire set menu (there's and alternating a/b schedule to taste 4 of their 8 menu flavors at a time). There are also limited numbers of reservations available for these tastings and they are fairly expensive for the size of cake you receive, which is a small round container of a single layer of cake, filling, and frosting with a few bites each.

When we tried the cakes on the day we had picked them up, the hot milk sponge flavors were all dry and had a texture somewhat like angel food cake. The buttercream was also a bit lighter in texture than my personal preference. The lemon, chocolate, and carrot cakes had a texture we liked more than we liked the hot milk sponge, though the lemon cake was dry, too. Our favorite flavor was the almond hot milk sponge cake with apricot compote and marzipan frosting. Since the website suggested that it was ok to ask the shop to do things that are not on their menu, we inquired whether we could have an almond flavored cake that was the same texture as the cakes that were not hot milk sponge. This seemed to offend Carla, who went about in a long, condescending, and unprofessional way to tell us this would not be possible and that she stands by the recipe for her cake. We apologized and ordered the cake without any changes to its normal execution.

On the day of the wedding, we were surprised that the floral elements were larger and more whimsical than we expected from our inspiration images (a cake the shop had made in a previous year). An even bigger surprise was that the cake was moist and tender, far different and better than the sample we tried.

I wish that Carla had either explained how the sample would be different from the final product, or had been more brief and kind in her communication as to what was possible to create a cake we would enjoy eating and sharing with our guests.

Honey Crumb did an incredible job executing our wedding cake - it was everything we were hoping for and more! Carla was great to work with through the cake tastings, discussions on what kinds of sugar florals we were looking for, and expectations on the big day. We went with a 3-tiered stucco finish cake (almond-apricot and lemon-blueberry - SO GOOD) with 2 rows of florals that included English Ivy and roses. We love that we can save the sugar florals as a keepsake. Thanks for being a part of our big day!

Honeycrumb created the most stunning (and delicious) vegan wedding cake for us. Everyone was raving about it! We went with a vanilla cake/raspberry mousseline combo that was AMAZING. They are true artists and made our day so special!

This a great gluten free cake option in the Seattle area and I’ve tried a lot. We ordered our micro-wedding cake here and loved it so much that we have since ordered a birthday cake as well. Guests compliment the cake flavor and texture and always want a second slice. One complaint that we had was that there was not enough cake to match the amount of buttercream, which I agree with. All to say, more cake please!

We were initially drawn by the artistry of Carla’s design and exquisite sugar flowers, but the flavor and texture of the cakes sealed the deal for us. We tasted a wide range of innovative flavor combinations, and easily found something that we both loved. She was also able to accommodate dietary restrictions – making a small gluten-free, dairy-free cake to go along with the primary cake. She worked with us to keep us on budget and delivered a stunning and delicious cake. We kept the top for ourselves and enjoyed it during our honeymoon and we fully intend to order a small cake to celebrate our anniversary!

Delicious and beautiful cake! Some of our guests were asking if the cake was fake because it looked so perfect. We ordered faux florals and they beautifully arranged them on the cake for us. Highly recommend!

I got pretty lucky on my birthday in 2021, my previous employer gave me this cake. I think it was from a wedding shoot we had got done doing. Anyways it was a Poppyseed cake with strawberry jam. It was incredible! I only wish you sold slices. The frosting itself was just a bit too sweet for my taste. I like very little sugar, but everything else was incredible.
