Salted Egg Yolk Yellow Cake
Yellow cake with a rich chocolate icing was a favorite for us all growing up. To relive those nostalgic times, we've created our own slightly eggier, slightly saltier version that will appeal to both sophisticated palates as well as kids of all ages. Our yellow cake highlights the beautiful, nutrient dense egg yolks we are so lucky to receive from our friends at Wilcox farms. The resulting cake is moist and tender from the extra fat provided by the egg yolks, and on the less-sweet side thanks to the light hand our bakers use with the cane sugar. It is perfectly balanced by our decadent cocoa buttercream icing that tastes better than anything found in a can! We are serving up thick wedges of this nostalgic treat with the classic accompaniment of vanilla ice cream and natural chocolate sprinkles made by India Tree.Allergens: Dairy, Eggs, and Gluten. Suitable for vegetarians.

Warm PNW Apple Cobbler
Tart green, and crisp sweet red-hued apples locally grown in Selah, WA by our friends at Collins Family Orchards are the stars of the season! You'll see them all over our 2023 fall menu, but this PNW inspired cobbler is where they really shine. They are gently sauteed with butter, caramel, and baking spices until they are tender, then tucked underneath a buttery cream biscuit made with local organic Fairhaven Mills cornmeal and baked to warm, bubbly perfection! On the side we have a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, and our Sauce Lead, Sean's, salted apple cider caramel.Allergens: Contains DAIRY, GLUTEN

They are made with brown butter ("beurre noisette"), which is made by slowly cooking butter until the milk solids caramelize - giving it a beautifully nutty flavor & aroma. Triborough Organic Espresso is a bit of a crowd-pleaser. It's deliciously straightforward, certified organic, and excels on nearly every brewing device. Simple and solid, Triborough is thoughtfully composed of beans from two very different parts of the world--a fully-washed process coffee from the Copán region of Honduras, and a wet-hulled Sumatra Mandheling from the Takengon region. Triborough first hits your nose with aromas of chocolate dipped almond and juniper berries. I love all the locations but Ballard is cozy and intimate. The space smaller and you can get the whiff of gooey chocolate as you walk in.
The location is also quintessentially Ballard and you can come here after shopping at Lucky’s vintage or after eating delicious Oaxacan mole next door.

Service was friendly and kind. The vegan grilled cheese was so good! Strong green onion flavor but it was mellowed out by the nice side of red sauce for dipping. We got the brownie lava cake to share and found it to be super yummy and delicious! Our only complaint was the paper vessel it was baked in: lots of the cake stuck to the container and we couldn’t eat certain bits because paper got stuck to the crispy batter. This place has the best vegan grilled cheese I’ve ever had. They make the cashew cheese in house and it goes perfectly with the sourdough/herbs/tomato soup. We will be back. Updated from previous review on 2025-12-28
