I really wanted to love this place. I always pass by here when I take my dog for a walk. I always see them doing amazing community outreach stuff and donating food to families in need.
I finally decided to check it out and it was rather crowded and busy so I decided to place a to-go order. However, because it was taking so long I decided to order a drink while I was waiting. An hour and a half later my food was ready. To add insult to injury my bill for a burger, 3 sides, and a drink came out to $80 not including tip. I wasn’t really even upset about it; mostly surprised. However, I didn’t want to address it because the staff was really nice and I felt embarrassed about it knowing that the money was going towards a good cause. That changed once I got home though. My hush puppies were wet, burnt, salty, and chewy (it felt like eating a salty sponge). My burger was cold and the bottom bun was beyond soggy; it was starting to disintegrate. The greens and red beans and rice both tasted salty and vinegary. Overall I was tremendously disappointed, but I’m giving them 2 stars because I like the aesthetic and I appreciate that they’re giving back and helping the community.

So overall I’d rate the food a solid 4 stars. It’s crazy how much costumer service makes or breaks your experience. My partner and I had only been to this restaurant once before and decided the food was worth the double back… or so we thought. Our second visit to this restaurant was definitely awkward and not worth the hassle of getting dinner EVER again. I work in social services and could never treat my clients with such disrespect and negligence. It seems as though the bartender just lacks professionalism and boundaries in his role. Although the food is good, it’s safe to avoid visiting this restaurant past regular business hours, as dinner might be bombarded with drunken staff. I’ve never been somewhere where you have to avoid the bartender.
Made reservations for my wife’s 26th birthday with her parents. They are immigrants, raised in south Seattle. After being served our drinks about 15 minutes passed without being tended to. My 4’11” mother-in-law grew impatient and approached the waitress, requesting service. She promptly responded, came to our table and began taking our orders. During which a tall, loud white man abruptly interrupted her, harshly saying: “don’t bark at the staff, it’s rude.” Immediately left our table and returned behind the stick. Our waitress was professional and observant, but obviously felt awkward. Our entire table was awe struck at the lack of professionalism we just experienced. The waitresses attempted to recover from what was a very awkward moment. We ended up putting in our food order but after she left us we could not cope with how rude and bombastic this bartender was. In the service industry, if you have an unreasonable customer, this is still a horrific way to address the situation. We canceled our food order, paid the drink tab and promptly left. This bartender displayed a level of unethical action I’ve never witnessed and acted in a very self justified manner. I will never recommend this establishment, I will never return, and frankly I have genuine pity for this “man’s” coworkers.
Parking: No street lights. Rats on the trash riddled sidewalk.

The rudest waiter I have ever encountered. Weirdly controlling--it was extremely uncomfortable. Medium-length curly black hair. First he scolded one of my friends twice for not standing in the right spot as we tried to stay out of the way while waiting for a table. Once we sat down and tried to order, we kept doing it all wrong: We needed to order in a very specific way, or we'd get eye rolls and more scolding. We finally just left the place.
This place is about community. If you live in the neighborhood, come here. Come meet your neighbors at the bar. Have amazing cocktails. Eat amazing food. And talk to people.
It's also a co-op, the staff own the place. You can tell. And this is the kind of place you want to support. The food and drinks and service are great.
If you're into agave, there's always some treasure on this bar. Very likely to have a few things you haven't tried.
Vegetarian options: Proteins on salad are optional and includes tofu. Mushroom étouffée is vegan. Vege burger option.

Neighborhood spot with some of the best cocktails in South Seattle. The food and atmosphere are great. The dirty rice with either fried catfish or fried chicken is a must and don’t sleep on the Tobasco Caesar.

My partner and I went in for dinner and received excellent service from the moment we walked in and consistent through our visit. We ended up getting the "date night" which had 2 entrees, 2 cocktails and beignets(70$). Great atmosphere with friendly people. We are planning on returning.
Kid-friendliness: There were a few kids of various ages enjoying themselves.

The cocktails were good but the bartender was among the worst I’ve ever experienced. He complained about the place having more customers than normal and as a result we only got 1 round despite being there for close to 2 hours. And when we tried to be kind and just check in he had a bad attitude about “we usually have 2 people for this kind of crowd”. There were maybe 16 people in the entire place and he wasn’t constantly busy. I don’t say this to be rude or unfair - I’m an easy customer. I’ve just rarely witnessed that level of petty and lazy by a bartender. Usually that’s a random bad dive bar experience, not a nicer place meant to serve quality cocktails.

Our meals were delicious! Dirty rice, fried chicken, pickled okra, fresh salad with homemade ranch, steamed cajun clams with fresh grilled focaccia for dipping! And the mango cheesecake! Amazing!

We loved this for a date night. And would definitely come back with the kids earlier or friends later! We were super hungry and ordered brussle sprouts, shellfish, and hush puppies for appetizers. All incredible. I had a fun cocktail that was a peppery bourbon with sweet tea and other ingredients I can't remember, but would 100% go back just for that. With dinner I had a half martini and I absolutely loved that they do half cocktails for half the price. Brilliant. I ordered gumbo and it came with salad and corn bread. Mt husband ordered dorty rice with blackened chicken. We couldn't eat it all, but it was good. I preferred the apps to the main food, but that could be because hunger levels changed drastically haha. Really nice to have a place like this outside of Seattle to avoid the freeway for good food. Highly recommend.
I found the food spicy, but well cooked.

I had to leave a review before even leaving the table. The food is absolutely delicious!! The chicken and grits were so flavorful and expertly prepared. My burger was a perfect medium with a great sauce and perfectly salted fries. The cocktails are complex and innovative. This is a new staple for us for sure! Don’t skip out on dessert, the Bon-Bons were UN-BE-LIEVABLE. 5 stars all around. Highly recommend! ???
