We went at 2:30pm so we didn't have a problem to get seated. The dry ramen was new for me but so good. We got Homura and Nikumori Aburasoba. Personally I preferred Homura which is also their top selling dish.
Very filling. Good portion.
Will be frequentling this for sure.

How is it possible that EVERY SERVER who work in this establishment is so rude. When I was ready to order I saw a server that was close to me, I said “hi I’m ready” he said something to me that I didn’t hear quiets well so I said what I want. The server literally look at me with a I hate you vibe and say “don’t you see I’m doing something right now”. Ok sir damn I didn’t knew me not hearing you well earlier and saying my order would piss you off that bad. And the way that when I walked into the restaurant, the vibe felt like they wanted me to leave and they don’t want to be there themselves…If you don’t want to work there or be there, just CLOSE. Horrible service, Horrible environment

Kajiken is a fantastic find!
The tendon here was beyond my expectation. I especially loved the yam and pumpkin tempura; they were cooked perfectly.
As for the ramen, I'd rate it about 4.5/5 compared to all the ramen I've ever tried. It's high quality, and since we didn't have to wait a long time to be seated, it was definitely worth it!
Pro Tip: If you're sensitive to salt, I highly recommend asking them to prepare your order with less sodium.
Great food and great value, especially for the ramen without the long wait!

In the abundance of delicious noodle shops around cap hill, Kajiken is a great option if you're looking for a dry noodle dish. I tried the Nikumori Aburasoba which had large slices of pork belly on top. While delicious, the pork was unwieldy and difficult to eat. The real star is the creamy egg yolk over the hand pulled noodles.

We came here on a weekday for dinner and were seated within a few minutes. Service was fast and friendly, and the menu is small so this is a great spot for a casual dinner. Overall, this wouldn't be my first choice for noodles in the area, but I know I would leave satisfied.

Lots of street parking along Cal Anderson if you're patient. Or there's a paid lot next door if you're not.

Good food but so rude service.
This guy really offended me.
When me and my friends walked in there was no table. We just quietly waiting for tables.
One of my friends went to counter to check menu, me and another friend wanted to stand closer to counter because we want to check the menu together. This gentleman told us have a seat whit a very loud voice.
We stand close to chairs, no sitting just since long time driving. After 3 minutes this guy told us have a seat again with a loud voice.
Why do you force us? We didn’t block the way!
After we finished our food, this guy just put cash register machine on our table.
I know you will close, but you just put register on our table and said nothing??
Why don’t you just ask us to check out?
Good news is this gentleman treated other customers really well, bad news is he loses his temper to us.
I know you are Japanese restaurant and I really appreciate. But if you hate people who speak Mandarin please attach a note on your door. So you can help me to make sure I won’t be hated.

(Not a review of the food)
Truly awful first impression. I walked in for lunch and none of the staff gave me the time of day. After a few moments I asked one of the waiters if I could grab a table for one (there were multiple tables open) to which I was curtly told to go wait in line like the sign says. Confused, I went back outside to find no line at all. I wait a few minutes, and then go back in to make sure I understood correctly. The same waiter looks at me like I’m an idiot and just stares. I ask if I’m just supposed to wait outside (it was raining and there was plenty of space inside) and he says “yes, wait in the line LIKE I TOLD YOU” belligerently. Well, there was no line, no clear waiting area, and plenty of available tables, so excuse me double checking. Decided it wasn’t worth my time at this point.

If I return someday and don’t get treated like an idiot immediately after walking in, I’ll be happy to update my rating.

I love this place! The mushroom aburasoba is delicious. So rich in flavor and I really think even meat eaters would like it!

Unfortunately, the mushroom dish is the only vegetarian/vegan option. My only request would be for the restaurant to add for vegetarian/vegan dishes 🤞🤞🤞

Service is great and very efficient! I will be back again and again!

Definitely good food! Appetizers were not worth in my opinion, and the bowls are a tiny bit overpriced but I would go back.

Look the food tasted very good. But the waiter had some serious attitude. It all seemed fine at first when we were ordering, until one of my Chinese friend had trouble understanding him. His attitude started after that. From the way he finished taking our order, to snatching the menus away from the table, to setting down our noodles impatiently, to chatting with other customers and not giving us our receipt in a timely manner. Even though the food was wonderful, the attitude was uncalled for. Especially when he was polite and friendly to everyone else.

Went to Kajiken for the first time. Ordered their Karamen Aburasoba Poached eggs with added toppings such as Bamboo shoots and Nori / Original Karaage. Very delicious and fresh tasting!!! Food here was delicious however the service could've been friendlier. The space is a little small yet cozy. I like that they offer a lunch special from 11:30 AM til 2:30 PM Monday-Friday. I definitely recommend this restaurant and I'll be back here again.

Love the aburasoba here. Definitely would recommend adding a raw egg to the original. Be prepared to wait outside for a table as many other people want to eat here as well!

The alkaline noodles were perfectly bouncy. Pro tip, don’t forget to add vinegar! Completely changes the flavor and cuts through the richness nicely. Great location and reasonably priced for capital hill.

Would I re-visit here? Probably not.

My company and I had abura soba combo set for lunch. It came with abura soba + takoyaki or karaage or gyoza + miso soup. After having a first bite, we could tell the food does not taste authentic. Takoyaki and karaage tasted like frozen foods had been microwaved. Also, the soba tasted more like Chinese cuisine. I’m not saying it was bad, but none of the menu we tried tasted like fresh cooked Japanese cuisine.

The restaurant was quite spacious and had many tables for 1-2 people. However, we were party of 3 as a result we had to wait a bit.
