In order of things:
Great service throughout, delicious barley tea and outstanding sake.

Squash tempura pretty poor, slices too thick, undercooked and the tempura swamped with Demi-glace. Avoid.

Kamonegi Seiro - mixed feelings. Soba good portion, nice flavour but texture lacking. Duck breast tough! Duck tsukune delicious. Dipping sauce great but only once watered down with barley tea which gave depth.

Tsukemono - genuine delight and the highlight

Almost there but not quite and too expensive for what is served at present.

Had high hopes for this place that fell flat. Did the tasting menu and the person I was with and I didn’t really like anything 😔
They gave old looking carrots (browned) and pieces of lettuce on the pickle appetizer. Weird that they gave jalapeño watermelon bites and called that one of their items. Their croquette was too oily and creamy to finish. Eggplant was unpleasant. Soba was nothing special at all, and the duck one was extremely salty even watered down. Had like 2 meatballs but even with that small of quantity I didn’t want to eat them. Best thing was the dessert, that was good.
Would not go again or recommend. Def overhyped. Very expensive for what you get too, everything is greatly overpriced. I like the interior but their menu, offerings & everything seem like smoke and mirrors. Bowls are mainly from crate and barrel and cups from ikea too which wasn’t impressive lol for the price you pay. Also no AC, we were sweating while eating.

Got the barely tea, duck dipping soba and the tempura mochi with sesame ice cream.

They start the meal with a free piece of cucumber and miso. The miso is way too sweet.

The must order of the night was the tempura mochi with sesame ice cream. The crunchy tempura paired with the soft bouncy mochi and light sweet sesame was divine.

The dipping broth was the best part of the soba. Duck meatball had a nice bounce and a peppery kick. The duck was too tough and a little gamey and I normally love duck. Maybe a different soba.

Tea was refreshing to beat the heat.

Appetizers were interesting. A bit expensive though

It was a hot, late July muggy weekday afternoon and so I was in the mood for some soba after work! Turns out this restaurant was not too far so I gave it a shot. Many types of soba were available both in the broth style and a dipping style, but I decided to go with the familiar classic and ordered a Ten Zaru.

I did get a cucumber with a house made miso and herb to start (I forget what herb it was aged with, but definitely more fermented than your miso used for soups)

The tempura and soba came soon afterwards, offering a variety of seasonal fried vegetables. The vegetables were light, crispy, and aromatic, especially the celery leaf! Starchier vegetables such as the squash, onion, sweet potato provided more familiarity.

As far as the noodles themselves, they were pleasant and simple: soft, but not overcooked. Strong, but not at all hard to chew. The zaru sauce to dip was a of a nice fishiness, but without the intense saltiness one usually is accustomed to when it comes to such soba dipping sauces.

A special shout out to the BoH staff who helped answer my questions when I was sitting at the bar: Natalie, Amelio, and Dylan! ✨ they noted the Treasure Ship on the menu that they were making, and I'll definitely be eying that for next time.

Do note that it's quite a small restaurant, so if you're coming as a party larger than, well, one (or if you want a table) it may be prudent to make a reservation. Otherwise you can just roll up to the bar if they have an empty chair. Definitely will come back again! 😊

Some of the best food in Seattle. I love the deft combinations of Pacific Northwest ingredients and traditional Japanese cooking. We’ve been here many times over 3 years and it has never once disappointed or underwhelmed. Consistently delicious.

If it’s summertime, be aware that there’s no A/C, and if you have a window seat, it can get pretty sweaty. Dress accordingly.

The food felt overpriced for the overall experience.
I had high expectations for the Kamonegi seiro soba, but was quite disappointed — the dipping sauce tasted just like regular shoyu, and the duck was just okay. While the handmade soba is a nice touch, it didn’t do enough to elevate the dish. The foie gras tofu was rich and delicious at first, but became a bit heavy toward the end — I’d recommend sharing it with friends.

The best gem of a restaurant. We had duck meatballs, soba noodles and foie gras tofu. Everything is mouthwatering. The foie gras tofu is exceptional.

The food was delicious. I liked the persimmon/prosciutto tempura. We had the sukiyaki soba and duck sona, both were good. The uni/shiso tempura dish was pretty good but not the best one I’ve had :-) Service was friendly. Ambient was good. A bit pricey. They accept online reservation.

All the portions were ridiculously small and overpriced. The duck soba broth barely had any depth of flavor. The restaurant is small and cramped. This was not a satisfying experience at all.

What a beautiful experience. We felt at home here, service was kind and attentive, she explained dishes and the culture of dining there with ease. We ordered the pickles, the king oyster mushroom dish with Smokey egg yolk, the squash “wings” and the lamb katsu. Then we both had the dipping style soba, the duck and the beef broths. Every bite was increasingly satisfying guy ing, as you got tastes of meat and veg with your noodles in a hot, flavorful broth. We loved the whole experience and would definitely return. Thank you to the whole team!
