All the people were very kind and the food is delicious and high quality! (:
Tried the pig sandwich—absolutely blew me away. Crispy pork, tangy pickles, spicy kick, all on a perfectly toasted bun. Flavors were layered and balanced. Great brunch spot with a cozy vibe and rotating local artist pop-ups. Perfect post-walk treat by Green Lake. I’ll definitely be back next Saturday!
Respectfully, it slaps
I never realized sandwiches could be a food I would rave about til I had Layers. The rotating specials are always a solid choice, and every side or dessert I've tried is just as flavorful.
Most recently there was an order mix-up when I got take-out, and Natalie went above and beyond to make things right. I can't express my gratitude enough for that on a day where we were juggling tight schedules and an illness at home 🙏
Absolutely horrible customer service.
EDIT: While I appreciate your kind and professional response to my review (I’ve increased my review a star because of this) it misrepresents the facts of what happened. For the reader’s awareness, when I arrived to the restaurant there was one table and many bar/high top seats available. My group was the only ones waiting to order when a family came in. They seemed to be in a rush so we let them go in front of us to order, in the meantime we sat down at the table to look at the menu. When this family was done ordering they sat at the high tops and we went to order, leaving our stuff at the table. The family complained to the staff that there were no tables available, they didn’t want to sit at the high tops. So the staff came over to us and told us we could not sit down until we ordered because there were not enough seats…despite the fact that 1) there were enough seats for everyone, 2) nobody else was in line at the restaurant, 3) we let the family go in front of us, and 4) the family just wanted to ‘upgrade” their seats despite already having seats. To say there was not enough seating is false. Furthermore, to enforce a policy like this when there is seating available for everyone is silly, I’d understand if there were a lot of people waiting for seats but there weren’t.
Great pork belly sandwich. Amazing atmosphere, many seatings including outisde with lake view. We visiting Seattle and made a stop here on the way to downtown, we had sandwich and took a walk around. Very nice feeling and great place to stop by.
I love going to the Layers restaurant so when I was trying to pick a catering option for my upcoming bachelorette party, they were the first people I thought of. The catering process was *amazing* -- very smooth and easy, definitely use them for your next event. Delivery came with everything we needed -- including serving utensils -- and all of it was compostable so it made it easy to serve and clean up for our picnic style party. In addition to sandwiches, we got chips and dip and crudite, and the snacks went just as fast if not faster. The service was so flexible and easy to work with!
FANTASTIC. Craving a sandwich right now!!!! It’s almost midnight! Order now and take two to go, for later!!!
The prices were inexcusable. 18$ for a sandwich is insane. I just can’t. Sorry. Nope.
Best sandwich shop!

We used Layers to cater an end-of-tax-season party for our accounting team and everything was superb! The food tasted delicious, the delivery was on time, and they even printed out cards with the sandwich name and all the ingredients on it. The meal was a huge hit for everyone and it made for a lovely celebratory afternoon. Definitely would recommend Layers to anyone who asks!
Would definitely say it's not worth the hype. I got the crab cake special sandwich ($21) and my friend got the tuna sandwich ($18). Mine was quite dry and not flavorful - I had to ask for more sauce. My friend's sandwich looked lackluster with random chips scattered on it. I'm usually one to share food but didn't feel compelled to do so.
The order sign/station with an arrow pointing to it is confusing since there's only one paper menu on a stand a few feet away from the cashier. We assumed there would be a kiosk to order from but you still go up to the cashier. It would be helpful to have more menus out or at least a QR code for people to scan so more than one party can study the menu while in line.
After ordering, water is self serve and you have to bus your own dishes. I'm quite disappointed that our meal was $50 (including tax and tip) for two very mediocre sandwiches.
TLDR: good food, high price, too heavy for a summery afternoon.
I struggle to review this place because I had a really nice sandwich, as did my partner. The spuds were awesome. The pickles were good. The space was light and airy and comfy. The weather was beautiful.
So why 3 stars on food? It's too pricey and too heavy. I got the notorious PIG. It was delicious, but I felt bad by the end of the meal. Too much salt and sugar on such a fatty piece of meat.
The bacon egg and cheese was also just too big. It was a slog for my partner to eat.
We agreed that this might be a great spot for the winter when you can go take a nap at 2PM and it seems appropriate, but the food was too heavy for a weekday lunch. That, coupled with the relatively high prices, make it hard to recommend without a few important notes.
Wildly delicious food, super charming and kind service, beautiful space. Absolutely Lives up to the hype. One of the best tuna sandos I’ve ever had.
No pic cause I devoured the Beauty and the Beef sandwich immediately.
This place is soooooo good. The bread tastes like it came straight from the Gods of agriculture. The beef - perfect! Sauce - perfect! Whole thing - chef’s kiss. I am happier and my life is better having eaten this sandwich and knowing this place exists so I can return for more.
