One of the few all day breakfasts left, I really wanted to like Lost Lake.
Unfortunately while the food is often fresh and tasty, the service is lacking enough for it to be pass.
Slow service from the moment you get into the door, to being greeted, and even checking out. You will be lucky to get a refresher on your coffee before your ready to leave.
I have also had to get silver wear replaced for having very noticeable chunks of gunk on them.
While I like the food I don't think I will be going back.

My only complaint is that sometimes the monthly specials are too good and then I'm sad when they go away!

What HAPPENED to this place? It used to be decent diner food with friendly staff. Now you go in and sit for half an hour before anyone comes by, and when the food comes to your table it's a tiny portion of badly microwaved slop. This used to be my favorite place!!

Great breakfast food (vegan burrito) and just a short wait for an outdoor table.

Julio has such a wonderful way of taking care of clients. I enjoyed my food and chit chat with him.

Cool vibe and not a hipster joint. Friendly staff.

Family friendly. An OG institution on Cap Hill.

We visited Lost Lake on a busy saturday morning during the brunch rush. Nevertheless we were seated rather quickly at the bar and had a nice server. Went with one of the specials -- pumpkin pancakes. So yummy. My friend got the breakfast tacos and LOVED them. Excellent hashbrowns. The mimosas also didn't disappoint. Go with the pitcher for the value buy. The staff was also super nice and recommended some spots for us to spend the rest of our afternoon

I went at a pressy busy time (at night near midnight) but got seated quickly but it was loud. The lost lake burger was great. I really liked the special house sauce. So overall, it was good!

We stopped in for dinner with another couple and ate at a booth in the lounge. Food and drinks were great!

Dietary restrictions: We found dairy free items here.

I had an awful experience at Lost Lake that I feel the owner needs to be aware of. After losing my cross-body bag containing my passport, ID, apartment keys, glasses, and AirPods (which I could track with GPS), I spent three weeks desperately trying to locate my belongings. My AirPods kept indicating they were nearby, often showing up around this diner.

When I finally went inside Lost Lake to follow up on my tracking, the bartender was rude from the start. Without greeting me, she bluntly asked, “Are you here for pick up? The food isn’t ready yet.” I explained that I was tracking my lost items, and her response made it clear she was irritated, as if I was inconveniencing her by even asking for assistance. When I asked if she could check Lost and Found, she made a fuss, saying, “This is not my job. I have more important things to do.” She then walked away, leaving me shocked by her dismissive attitude.

I asked to speak with the manager, expecting a more professional response. Unfortunately, the general manager’s behavior was just as unprofessional and dismissive. When I explained my situation, she acted as if I was the one being unreasonable. She reluctantly checked the Lost and Found a second time—and, lo and behold, my belongings were indeed there. I expressed my gratitude, only to be met with more attitude. When I mentioned leaving a review, the manager responded that my “threat” had changed things and she wouldn’t be addressing the employee’s behavior.

The dismissive and unhelpful attitudes of both the bartender and the manager are not only unprofessional but deeply disrespectful. No customer should be made to feel like an inconvenience especially when trying to recover valuable belongings. I sincerely hope the owner of Lost Lake sees this review and understands the level of poor customer service being given to customers. A little empathy and courtesy would go a long way in restoring Lost Lake’s reputation.
