Best bagels and lox in west Seattle, hands down. Do note that it is a hole in the wall style window that you order from, so best to buy and bring home. My visiting in-laws from New York said it best: “this is a proper lox bagel.” Everything bagel was our personal favorite. Lox was fresh and flavorful. Will be back for sure.

The bagels here are hands down the best I’ve had in Seattle! The fish is always incredibly fresh and flavorful. Matt is consistently friendly and quick to prepare orders with care. I can’t recommend this hidden gem enough!

The egg bagel is where it’s at!! The bagels here have such a nice texture and flavor, and the owner Matt was very pleasant to chat with. I went towards the end of a rainy day so he threw in a couple extra bagels for me to try. I’ve been slowly chipping away at trying bagel places in the city to find “the best bagel in Seattle” and this place is certainly a contender. I haven’t tried the bagel sandwiches yet, but certainly will next time!

Not a review writer but I had a particularly off putting experience that made me compelled to write. The owner was extraordinary rude and dismissive of my friend and I while ordering. He paid no attention to us, while sitting on his phone and ignoring another customer that was excited to talk with him about his bagels. The bagel was stale by my 10am visit and the schmear was very thinly spread. The shop was dirty and messy.

High prices, low quality, even worse service. I would not return to Loxsmith if it were the last bagel shop on Earth. Never again.

Update 11/1/24: I’ve come 2 more times to get a dozen bagels for my family and they’ve been a hit! Updating to 5 stars. If I had to rank the products, I’d put the sandwiches first, the bagels themselves, and then the schmears.

Updated 10/20/24: Ordered the West Coast & Great Lakes sandwiches and they hit the spot! Especially liked the everything bagel. The discount code they provided after my first experience didn’t work, but they said they’d refresh it so I can use it next time. Updated from 1 star to 4 stars. Will update with an additional star should my next experience be on par.

Original post 9/26/24: Was looking forward to trying this place. Showed up at 8:17am and they were closed, but saw on the door that they indeed were supposed to open at 8am. Waited around for a few min and no one arrived so I headed out.

Tucked away just around the corner from the Beacon Hill Link Station might just be some of the best lox and bagels in Seattle, but it comes at a cost.

First off the unavoidable cost of great bagels and even better lox (and Seattle rent) comes in the form of around $6 for a bagel with schmeer or $9 for a half bagel open faced sandwich. Despite everyone else's opinions, I think loxsmith warrants the price.

Second, the cost of being a bagel shop seems to be that everyone else has a strong opinion about what makes an "authentic" bagel. Similar to how comparison is the thief of joy. Bagel snooty-ness is the thief of a good meal here.

Third, the cost of being a small business. Sometimes you run out of a bagel and can't update the online portal fast enough. Sometimes, life happens to small-businesses or their employees and the result is a late opening, or short-staffed afternoon. Loxsmith does seem to run into these issues at times, and all I can do is wish them the best moving forward.

Make the trip (by public transit you car-centric hooligans) and see for yourself if the bagels are worth it, and if not you can curse my review under your breath at some other bagel joint in Seattle

These bagels are so good! Sad to see the poor reviews for this is a small business working hard to keep things moving. Sometimes they seem understaffed but still so thankful to have them in the area. Would recommend!

Doing a 2-week food tour of Seattle with a couple friends and felt compelled to comment on my experience. We were greeted warmly at the door by Matt who was very helpful in taking our order. When we revealed that we were checking out popular food spots in the city, he immediately offered personal recommendations for various spots throughout the city for what we were looking for and was overall extremely friendly and welcoming.

The LoxSmith bagel was absolutely phenomenal, with a generous portion of fresh lox and perfect proportion of ingredients. I enjoyed this bagel more than any of the many I have tried in New York. I will be coming back on my next trip to Seattle!

Not to be an East Coast snob, but before today the only amazing bagel I’ve ever had before today was on the east coast and the Bagels here were even better! The lox which have always been better here in Seattle, was also the best of the best. Amazing!

I come here most Sunday mornings with my son. The bagels and lox are great, and the schemar portions are very generous. The negative reviews are inconsistent with my weekly experience. If the staff aren’t actively preparing an order, they’ll take your order instead of asking you to use the tablet. Otherwise the tablet is serviceable. If you ask for something, they accommodate. If there are orders ahead of you, it can take some time, but IMO that’s reasonable at a small business that makes food to order. Bagels are certainly baked fresh every day: every time I go I see older bagels in the compost bin, and day olds for sale.

The closest I can get to an east coast bagel! Nothing fancy, just damn good bagels and schmesr, with interesting NW twist in toppings (eg broiled unagi, sesame nori, salmon roe)!

Loxsmith Bagels has a lot of potential but falls short in a few key areas. While the bagels themselves are decent, the texture is a bit too dense, and the flavor lacks that authentic, fresh-baked quality. The bagels are just okay, but it doesn't stand out, and the overall presentation could use some improvement. Service was a bit slow, and the ambiance felt a bit lacking. It's not terrible, but it definitely didn't live up to my expectations.

Come on in now for a tasty Locksmith. Salmon, tomatoes, cucumbers are all in season and tasty fresh.

Great bagels and the owner has been doing this a long time. Frequented his pop ups and now his shop is just as good if not better.
