My friend encouraged me to check it out, their specials are delicious. Especially as a cortado! Very impressed and will continue to be back. Great selection of pastries with a twist, and they have a market too.
Alright food... Some items are too floral...

The food in the photo is what we got for $46, no drinks just food.
We were surprised that essentially a breakfast sandwich without any sort of side was about $20 each.
We also realized that we were overcharged by $2.00 and rather than the manager correcting this for us he said the menu price was wrong and still charged us the higher amount. Not a bad way to lose a customer that lives nearby.
To put things into perspective, we went to Corner 8 Bistro on 8th street the day before and got 2 amazing sandwiches with sides and 2 oatmilk chais for $39 total (including a tip).
Mainstays is an overpriced convenience store style cafe. There are much better options in the area.

Cheese pizza has chunks of pepperoni on it. Don’t eat here if you have dietary restrictions.

Salad was tasty - a bit too sweet for me but not bad. Their manu price is wrong and lower than actual, so clarify the price when you order.

I had a few extra minutes in between errands and stopped in during the lunch rush to get a bite to eat. I was expecting long lines but the front counter moved everyone along efficiently! I was excited to try their focaccia of the day (bacon, cheese, mama lil’s - so delicious!) and over the moon to snag their last chocolate chip cookie (one of my favs in the city!). Despite the rush, I found a table and ate my food. Everyone around was happily in conversation and seemed to enjoy their meals as well! Such a pleasant afternoon!!
