A quiet neighborhood coffee place especially wonderful for people who bring dogs.

How have we not been here yet? I'm ashamed of myself. Walked in, the only person there was a friend. ??‍♀️ The coffee was absolutely delicious. It felt a lot like going to a friend's house, and we will definitely be back.

Breve, Ristretto, and Americano was $15 and 20% tip makes $18 total. If an Americano is $3 that makes the Breve $6-9 and Espresso $6-9. Hmm. Well, for the quality of the coffee and foam it was worth it IMO. However... *duhn duhn duuuhn!*... the cafe is very, very dirty. And I don't mean dirty as in there's a little dirt from doggos here and there, I mean it's covered in layers of dirt, grime, Infinity Gauntlet dust, dog hair, and what I'm assuming is literal hippie granola. In complete honestly I was worried about bed bugs after sitting down on the cushions (yeah, that level of yuck). I say that in the kindest way possible because the trainee Barista was supes nice and made a mean espresso (with the added difficulty of explaining a hemp milk breve to the barista and the owner [who was as dishy as ever]). But, the ambiance inside the cafe was closer to a homeless encampment than a cafe. Went here almost daily a decade ago and sadly my standards have risen to where I refuse to risk an incurable disease just to get my morning coffee, no matter how good the foam, beans, or espresso is. Location needs a nuclear level cleaning and redecorating. But again, fantastic coffee.

They charge out the nose for extra shots. My Americano was $9 bc I wanted more than 2 shots in a 20 oz. It's so good, I wish it was economical to go back ?

The owner is nice, so you feel pressured to not to leave a bad review. But out of the hundreds of coffee stops in Seattle, this wouldn't come up as my recommended unless you're looking for a pet-friendly coffee shop. It's named after the furry fren, after all. The atmosphere is quite dark and there's fur all over the seats. It feels disorganized and dirty... so I wouldn't dine in. The menu is simple, which is not bad but also why I don't feel the urge to return, as there isn't anything great about the drinks. I'm not even sure where the beans come from. Popular for the locals, not a place to go out of your way for. I want to support a small business, but this is my honest review in the nicest way I can put it.

Love supporting small, BIPOC owned businesses so I was so happy the coffee was delish and it's in a great area!!! I love the atmosphere and decor, there's plenty to look at during the short wait for your drink! Sweet and genuine baristas, and you can't forget the cutest pup Mingus!!

Always greeted with good energy! Love the mocha but I also have never had a 'bad' drink here! I really enjoy the local art they support that is for sale and it's nice to be able to pick up their food too for later - Their curry and aloo gobi never disappoints! Dog friendly is just the cherry on top of this cute and funky place!

Sweet midnight espresso cold brew, I met you so late in the day and fell in love with you. Smooth little gem that was a delight to drink. I will be back to hang out with your other friends, the espresso shot and maybe a cortado.

Nice, dog-friendly (say hi to Mingus) spot with cheerful staff tucked just off the arterial (push through the neighbors' brunch line and enjoy some better coffee). Options and interesting concoctions abound.

I can't stop singing my praises!! The owner is really funny & friendly, and she makes great coffee to boot! The seating is perfect for the space, and little Mingus is a gracious host. We'll definitely be back again soon!

I went to this coffee shop for the first time today and I love it already - please go here . This is a classic Seattle coffee shop - one with delicious coffee, incredible latte art, an adorable namesake dog in-store, delicious pastries, beautiful art, a wonderfully welcoming owner who let my wife, friend and I stay longer than we probably should have. I wish there was a Makeda & Mingus in my neighborhood - just the epitome of an excellent, whimsical, welcoming local cafe. Thank you!
