Food, service and atmosphere were nice and fine except for the chairs. The entire restaurant had these plastic injection mold chairs for their regular tables. Maybe because I'm a bit larger than the average person, but I felt like I was being punished and had to sit at the kids' table. The chairs were small, and the tables were low. I felt like Shrek, attending a child's tea party. And I'm only bringing this up because I've not had this experience at any other restaurant.

Great Italian option for the U District/U Village area. We had the gnocchi and had them make a puttanesca spaghetti, both vegetarian. The food overall was very good! Gnocchi was a bit too cheesy for me. The puttanesca was excellent. We also had their Tortini bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, which was delicious. The service was incredible. They have focaccia for the table bread, with free refills. The olive oil and balsamic blend for dipping was the best I’ve ever had at any restaurant. Same goes for the focaccia itself. They’ve included a 3% charge due to the tariffs, so something to keep in mind price wise. Highly recommend trying if you’re in the area and looking for a solid Italian option.

Had a great experience at Mamma Melina for a casual dinner with my wife. Very good food and attentive service.

Our daughter just moved from the Washington DC area to Seattle. We were hopeful this nearby Italian restaurant would be our new “go-to place” during visits. Based on our first meal, it will be! Our server Evangeline was knowledgeable and attentive. The wine and cocktail selections were good. And the meal was outstanding. We ordered the Calamari alla Plancia appetizer, two of the specials (salmon and chicken) along with the Lasagnette, and the Cuore di cioccolata dessert. Every item was prepared to perfection.

Awesome Italian spot you can scoot to on the Gilman-Burke trail. Happy Hour is incredible, love the pizza, meatballs and polenta and the blood orange martinis!
