Food is really good here. We’ve gone for dinner and lunch about 6 times and the food has been consistently good. The lunch menu from 12-3p has a wide variety of options that come with soup, a roll, and rice for around $15.

I’m on the hunt for a go-to casual Chinese place to put into my rotation of places to get an easy dinner or lunch. On a trip to the movies at Oak Tree Cinema, I noticed the Mandarin Gate. It was closed at the time, so I filed it away to try some other time. While it was on my try list, some folks on Facebook mentioned that it was a great place. Cool! I bumped it up the list a bit.My girlfriend spent the holidays with her kids and new grandson in SoCal. My job was to pick her up from the airport when she came home. I planned out the mission with maps and spreadsheets to maximize the trip. There were a few chores to handle, shopping for tools at home depot and getting something to eat before heading south to wait for her flight to get in.I checked and found that the place would be open. Perfect. I did my errands and shopping, then drove down Aurora to get some yummy Chinese food. It was a terribly rainy night, so I picked a parking space near the door. There were plenty of spaces to choose from. The best spots were full of food delivery cars. Chinese food holds up well to being boxed up and delivered, so I was not surprised.I ran to the door to get out of the rain. Inside, a few delivery drivers were hanging around. All the tables were empty. Not a good sign I thought. I had plenty of time to think because there was no one there to greet customers. I picked up a menu and checked out the options while I waited. Another group of diners showed up to fill the foyer. Someone came out of the back with bagged up food for a couple of the drivers, but they scurried away before I could signal that I needed a table for one.The menu had all the usual choices grouped by the protein featured. While the best stuff was served family style, there were a number of lunch and dinner options for single diners. The dinners came with only one soup option - corn and egg. I would have preferred hot and sour, but I thought that maybe by having only one soup, they could focus on it and make it great.By the time someone showed up to lead me to a table, I had decided to get the Kung Pao shrimp and chicken dinner with fried rice. The kid who seated me, took off before I could order, but came back after a few minutes to pour me some water and ask what I wanted.I read the news on my phone and checked that I had enough time to eat before I had to get to the airport. It was good that I built in extra time just in case.I was getting very hungry when another server stopped by to take my order. I said I had already ordered, but asked if she would double check that the kitchen had it. I never saw her again. Eventually, my soup showed up. It was thick with plenty of corn and egg. Unfortunately, it had almost no flavor. I added some soy sauce and spooned it up. My waiter stopped by to refill my water and take the empty soup cup away.I got through all the news before my dinner hit the table. The plate was small, but the fried rice and the eggroll looked good. The Kung Pao was rich with bell peppers, but the chicken and shrimp were dull beige and unappetizing in a goopy sauce. I tried a bit of each and decided that while the fried rice was great, the rest was bland. I used the soy sauce and sriracha on the table to flavor it up a bit. After eating, I flagged down my waiter and signaled that I was in a hurry to pay and get out of there. He came by with the bill and took my credit card in a single visit. After doing something mysterious with my card in the back he returned and I quickly added a small tip, signed and ran back out into the rain.My search for Chinese food continues.

The almond chicken and the salt and pepper chicken wings are the best. They are across the parking lot from wing stop but I prefer theirs!? Never too busy with dine in, very busy with delivery. I always sit at the bar for cheap strong drinks and watch tv.

Food is super tasty. They are quick and efficient. I wouldn’t sit in the dining room if you paid me though. It’s musty and uninviting.

Have you ever been to a bar that didn’t know how to make drinks? Not just not know proportions, they didn’t know AT ALL. One extra star for the comedic value in not knowing what a whiskey sour was. Also, don’tbe fooled by the chalkboard that tells you they have anything on draft Rest assured, they don’t.

A great neighborhood joint that has been around forever - food has been consistently great the last few years and the atmosphere is real old-school Seattle. A somewhat hidden gem in the North Seattle area, we love these folks.

Ho hum food. Sweet, unspicy hot and sour soup. Curry onion more than chicken, and grisly ones at that. Doughy pot stickers,, and dry shrimp fried rice, and I don't mean the rice.Wheelchair accessibility: It's so empty that wheelchairs will not a problem maneuvering around.

Shared 4 dishes Chef special fried rice and a Chef special dish Kong Bao. Also a shrimp fried rice and vegetable noodles dish. Along with two well cocktails. All were large servings costing $13 - $15 each. I would eat here again. They were out of fortune cookies and only had one dessert, cheesecake.Vegetarian options: Many on menuParking: 18+ spots near the entry in a large shared lot.
