Maneki is an absolute gem in the International District and a must-visit for anyone who appreciates authentic Japanese cuisine and a truly special atmosphere. Stepping inside feels like a warm hug from the past – it's one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in the country, and you can feel that history.

We ordered the Hamachi kama (yellowtail collar), spicy tuna rolls, Hamachi rolls, black cod collar with miso, and Udon with tempura- yes, we love hamachi!. It was a rainy day, and this meal turned out to be the perfect comfort food. The fish was incredibly tender and sweet, with sauces that were well-balanced and enhanced the natural flavors. The sushi rolls were especially fresh.

Food was solid. I was shocked that a can of Sapporo was $15. Yes a 12 ounce can was $15. The service was beyond terrible. Incredibly slow. We didn’t get our $15 beers until we had been there for an hour. Who charges $15 for a can of yellow beer?!
