Every dish was delicious, cocktails were great, and the staff were attentive and friendly. Great experience overall and we'll definitely be back.
Great spot for lunch or dinner in the heart of Pike Place Market. Make sure to get a reservation prior to dinning. The staff was incredibly accommodating to my friend who has numerous food allergies and celiac. She has a difficult time eating out at restaurants and the staff was amazing in helping her select menu items to fit her dietary restrictions.
Service: attentive, but not obnoxious. Food: My pork was so succulent. Salad served as a shareable was brilliant. Others had similar comments about their orders of octopus, branzino, and fish stew. A very special evening.
Matt's is my favorite place to enjoy lunch. It is a real treat to meet a friend, have a date lunch or sit at the bar for a solo break. The service is always friendly and professional. The albacore sandwich is my go to choice and of course their homemade potato chips are a must.
I always love Matt's never disappoints. I had the muscles and clams for a delicious lunch!
This classic market restaurant offers a wonderful hideaway above the market entrance with views of the real action below. One of the finest restaurants at the Pike Place Market.
This might have just been our first experience with a Gen Z server but for such a nice restaurant and a special occasion the vibes were just off. Just seemed like something you’d get at a diner and expected different here. Some of food was great (fishwich)and some was quite mediocre (crab roll and soup). I thought this was one of those special Seattle places but the only thing that felt special was the view. Maybe it’s different at dinner.

While the service and non-seafood dishes were excellent, all the seafood dishes we had were, at best, average. The seafood stew we had smelled a little bit off and had a clam that wasn't opened. We shrugged off the signs as we didn't know any better but should have followed our instincts and raised our concerns even if it would have been our own mistake, because at the end of the meal, we had felt queasy, stomachs uneasy and had loose stools (sorry for the oversharing). The halibut mains was also way overcooked and dry. The octupus starter and salmon mains were only average.
Thankfully, the roasted beets salad and pork shank were very delicious and made us want more.
Perhaps we had been spoiled by the better, fresher and less expensive seafood options all around us in Pike Place Market, such that the seafood dishes at Matt's felt a little lacklustre in comparison, especially for the high price we had paid.
But food safety is an issue that shouldn't be compromised and we don't feel confident about Matt's seafood options after the unsettling stomach issues we had after having the seafood stew.

The whole experience is quintessentially Seattle. Expect delicious seafood, excellent service, and a view right above Pike Place Market. Watching the sunset over the water beneath the buzz and glow of the iconic neon sign is an absolute bucket list dining experience.
If you love seafood you can’t go wrong with the seafood stew. It’s absolutely loaded - salmon, clams, scallops. Yum!

Matt's is an institution, no doubt about it. However, our lunch experience was just okay. The check-in process for reservations was a bit all over the place. Two parties of the same size were seated before us that checked in after we did. One of the servers physically placed their hands on one of the members of our party while asking her to move out of the way of their shelf that had glassware on it. You can ask someone to move without touching them. Further, there is a serious lack of space for people to stand or sit while waiting for their table, so it was like, uh, where else should we stand? However, the food absolutely made up for it. Don't miss out on the chips and dip for lunch. The fishwitch sandwich would be better if it was battered and fried like the people want, but the market halibut was of great quality. The iced tea is a blend and it was so refreshing. One of my party members got the mussels and said it was the best she'd ever had, and she lived in Boston for some time. All in all, will return, but wasn't impressed with the lunch service team.
Had lunch 10/17/25 right at 11:30 (with reservations). Called ahead about elevator access which they said is available on 1st Ave side however as we departed, we found it went all the way to market level. That would have been handy to know since we had group with elderly. Food was excellent. I ordered catfish sandwich and salad side. Salad was very good (not overly dressed) with generous blue cheese crumbles and pepitas. Catfish sandwich had great flavor. My only comment would be to serve it on sturdier bread. It was rather soggy and difficult to pick up. Halibut sandwich (fish with) was good but lacked spices. Overall, very good lunch. Extra shout out to cook who made special cocktail sauce for uncle for his fried oysters.
