Lovely local market, delicious in-house food & well stocked in its specialty. Be sure to stop by
Food is amazing!!
The staff was very helpful and friendly when I was looking for ingredients for mole.
Listen. I looooove the tamales and some of the meals. However the prices are too high for the MEAL! The tamales get a 10/10. Also, the sweet breads I’ve purchased have been old and stale sold at a fresh price.
I'm so happy I found this amazing gem/mexican Mercado.
Their mole chicken soup is to die for. Actually I’ve never had a meal I didn’t like. A Seattle hidden gem. If you like authentic Mexican, it’s a must try.
Mendoza's is happily one of the markets on the city's FreshBucks program, and is very easy for me to source by bus in my wheelchair. Do bring a cane if you are using a chair. Aisles are very narrow, but the couple who run it are very helpful. There are safe places to leave your chair outside.. It is remarkably well-stocked for its size. I had been on an archeological dig in the Yucatan in the 80s, and learned lots of regional cooking secrets at that time. Truly a happy place for me!
Chili relleno was delicious and filling!
Thank god for Mendoza’s Mercado. My wife and I recently visited and were blown away by the food and hospitality. We moved from Texas last year and had been struggling to find great, authentic Mexican food here in Seattle. To say I teared up with happiness is an understatement, we will definitely be back!
Awesome tamales!

I’ve been a regular customer here for several months, always respectful, always paying, and genuinely trying to support a local business. So I was surprised—and frankly disappointed—when I was told there are “like 16 cameras” watching me. I'm not sure why that needed to be said, especially since I’ve never stolen a thing and have consistently shown up in good faith.
The comment felt unnecessary and targeted. It’s hard not to notice that I seem to be the only black person patronizing this place, and instead of feeling appreciated, I’m reminded that I’m being watched. That’s not how you build trust or community.
Meanwhile, the people you aren't watching, who look like you, are probably stealing.
I’ll continue to do my business elsewhere—at shops where I’m treated like a valued customer, not a suspect. Respect goes both ways.
Your loss, not mine.
Mendoza's is a lovely Mexican grocery. They're a perfect stop for breakfast or lunch with a bar of delicious hot food. They also have lots of Mexican pantry staples, butchered meats, produce, drinks, candy, and pastries. The staff is extremely kind and welcoming (even for a Gringo like myself).
For my lunch, I tried a chicken tamal, a chile relleno, and chicharrones, with rice, beans, and tortillas on the side. The food is very authentic, the tortillas are fresh, and the salsas are nice and spicy. I also really enjoyed my agua fresca de guayaba!
I also got a bunch of sweets to go. I believe they get their pan dulce and cakes from Bakery Panaderia La Gloria up in Everett. Once again, very authentic! They serve up an excellent chocoflan and tres leches cake.
I definitely recommend stopping by to try some unique Mexican goodies, and grab some lunch while you're here!
I’ve eaten in taquerias across Mexico; Yucatan, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Baja… Mendoza’s was authentic food made with love. I had the tomatillo chicken plate [not on the menu]; it was superb. The tortillas she gave me to eat with also tasted freshly made. And, the agua fresca was amazing! Go there right now and fill your tummy!
Absolutely incredible selection of drinks, food, and amazing service as well! I got some fresh meat, chicharrón and a Pony Malta and it brought me back to my time in Latin America. This corner store is an absolute treasure and Aurora is lucky to have them.
I ordered 12 lbs of marinated carne asada meat and 80 corn tortillas to bring out to our family reunion. The food was all ready in the AM for pick up and I bought some ice to put around the meat to drive over the mountains. The meat turned out so tasty!
