I had always wanted to try Ethiopian cuisine and this place leaves me wanting more. The owner was very excited to inform us on what to get and how it’s usually eaten. We both ate the veggie combo family style and shared a bottle of honey wine. Plenty of food with varying depths of flavor. The place also felt very laid back and homey. It was money and time well spent.

This place is my go to for Ethiopian food. Lamb tibs is so delectable and something I’ve been ordering for about 20 years. I love it so much that of course I had to leave how to make it but Meskel makes it the best. I’ve tried a few other restaurants while they were closed out of desperation but it doesn’t come close. The lentils, cheese, green chicken and other dishes are all worth a try, see for yourself

Ignore anything under 5 stars. I have been to this restaurant SO many times and the food is always just delicious. The owner/chef is the most kind, genuine and wonderful woman. She always remembers my family and me, even if it has been months and always makes sure our experience is nothing short of excellent. I have loved Ethiopian food since I was a kid and I always thoroughly enjoy going to Meskel. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed!

My go to in Seattle for Ethiopian food for many years!
Absolutely fantastic! We've been looking for our next favorite Ethiopian restaurant and i think we've found it! The serving was generous, the dishes were both comforting and flavorful. We ordered the veggie combo with the Yebere Tibbs and it's a great way to sample the variety they have to offer. The staff were warm and welcoming. Whether you're new to Ethiopian cuisine or a longtime fan, this spot is a must-visit. A true gem!

Just WOW! This is hands down the best Ethiopian food I've had on the west coast, I even liked it better than the Ethiopian restaurants I've had in DC, which many will say is the best place for Ethiopian food in the US. The variety of veggie dishes was much more than other restaurants provide, but the depth of flavor was what was most amazing. Very rich flavors, and everything cooked perfectly. We are coming back and coming back often!

This place is great!! The food has been delicious every time I’ve gone, both vegetarian and meat selections. Pricing is extremely reasonable and portions are large. Service was great, they have a large outdoor patio, and they’re open until 10p or later every day excluding Monday (latest thing open in the area; Google times are wrong). I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for Ethiopian food!

I went to Meskel for the first time today as part of my quest to try every Ethiopian restaurant I can in Seattle.
Meskel was EXCELLENT. There were four of us with medium appetites and we got a veggie combo and green chicken with some extra injera. It was the perfect amount of food. Everything had a great depth of flavor, and the injera was extra tart and yummy!
The service we received was excellent and everyone was so, so kind. We will definitely be back!!

A Hidden Gem Worth Supporting!
Meskel Ethiopian Restaurant is a true gem! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The injera is soft and perfectly tangy, and every dish is packed with authentic Ethiopian spices. The staff is warm, welcoming, and makes you feel like family. Places like this bring so much culture and heart to the community — they deserve all the support they can get. Please give them a visit!
