We ended up in Seattle due to a flight cancellation on our way to Tampa for my birthday weekend. Tired, sad, and hungry, we made a reservation at the Metropolitan Grill. The minute we walked in, the “classic steakhouse” vibe welcomed us and set the tone for an amazing evening.
The staff, food, and atmosphere were all A+. The trio of Japanese steaks was a great way to taste the differences in the beef. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Our plates were presented beautifully, and every little detail was impeccable.
The best part was that the Maître d’ came by and spoke with us—what a personal touch.
I thought places like this didn’t exist anymore. I thought customers didn’t care about service anymore. Metropolitan Grill gave me hope that the craft of great food and exceptional service isn’t dead.

I’ve been dining at the Metropolitan Grill for over 25 years, and experiences like tonight are exactly why I keep coming back.
Nora took care of us this evening and made the entire experience feel truly special. From the moment we came in, she made me feel unbelievably welcome the kind of genuine hospitality that you simply can’t fake. She was attentive without hovering, warm without being over the top, and clearly takes great pride in what she does.
In a city where service can sometimes feel rushed or transactional, Nora reminded me what true steakhouse hospitality is supposed to feel like. Professional, thoughtful, and personal.
After 25 years of coming here, it’s people like Nora who continue to make the Metropolitan Grill stand out. Thank you for such a wonderful evening.

Absolutely excellent. Service was impeccable. Anthony was our server and he was perfect. He was super attentive, professional, warm and gave us space as well. We enjoyed every course and cocktail. The filet (American Wagyu) was exquisitely cooked, mashed potatoes were tasty and not rich, the salad and shrimp cocktail were fresh and well prepared. The cheesecake is one of the best we have had in Seattle, the perfect combination of cheese and creamy dessert texture. We ended the night with an espresso Martini. It tasted like an alcoholic cup of expresso.

The ribeye here is seriously next-level — juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. I also can’t get enough of their mac & cheese and mashed potatoes; both are super comforting and hit all the right notes. Everything about the meal feels indulgent in the best way. My only tiny gripe is that they don’t offer indoor seating for lunch, so if you want to sit somewhere a little quieter than the bar, it can be tricky. Still, that’s a small downside compared to how good the food is. Between the delicious mains, the sides that make you want to lick the plate, and the relaxed vibe of the bar area, it’s a spot I’ll definitely be coming back to. Perfect for a hearty meal when you’re craving classic comfort food with a little extra flair.

First time here and the reviews were spot on. This place is class class class. Yes you lay the gratuity as part of the bill but they earn every penny. Portions are a nice size and they even offer to split things or get half orders. Steak was fantastic. Don't skip the peppercorn sauce.

Everyone is so kind. This steak is the best, not to mention the taste. This was the best meat I've had in my 30 years. Make sure to order medium-rare! Especially a Korean woman named do-hui who was so kind and I felt respected. I will definitely visit Seattle next time I visit there.

An utter disappointment! We’ve dined at the Metropolitan Grill for 30 years. We took four of our friends for a celebratory anniversary dinner. Boy, this is not the Metropolitan Grill that we remember. Cut to the chase—our potatoes were cold, we all commented that they put one dollop of sour cream on and then you felt embarrassed about asking for a second one. I don’t know what other condiments they had, but they weren’t offered to us. I had to ask for chives. The Incredibly expensive meat was mediocre and cold. Our drinks were left empty which boy can that dull the mood. The waiters were going through the motions, but that was it. Again, not like it used to be, and the price of the food absolutely doesn’t justify the experience we had. We didn’t even get offered coffee at the end. It was like they thought we were done with our meal I guess and forgot about us. However, the bananas foster is always excellent and a lovely lady that served it was the highlight of the evening.

Visiting Seattle, I chose Metropolitan Grill because it’s consistently listed as one of the city’s best steakhouses—and wow, it absolutely lived up to the hype. Not only is it one of the best in Seattle, it easily lands in my top five steakhouses worldwide.
The atmosphere has that timeless, old-school steakhouse charm, paired with some of the best cuts of beef you’ll find anywhere. From the moment you arrive, everything feels elevated—coat check, valet service, and a warm, polished dining room that sets the tone for an exceptional evening.
We were celebrating two birthdays, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. The service was truly outstanding—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming—while the food was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish.
And whatever you do, save room for dessert. The 7-layer chocolate cake is to die for—rich, indulgent, and the perfect way to end an already unforgettable meal.
Metropolitan Grill is a must-visit for steak lovers and a standout dining experience I’ll be thinking about long after leaving Seattle. I can’t wait to return.
