This place is a congee institution. First thing first: this is a cash only place. Come prepared.
There was a time when the congee would sell out well before closing, so you were lucky if you managed to get some at lunch.
The staff can be seen hand-making the amazing wontons at super speed.
Some of the best dishes are the sides of Chinese broccoli and the kidney and liver dish that comes with ginger and cilantro and an amazing soy sauce that includes diced jalapeño peppers.
But you have to try the wonton soup, there are two kinds of dumplings: one is mushroom base and it is incredible. The other pork shrimp is also great.
Congee: We go for the rockfish and pumpkin congee and highly recommend the chicken congee as well. Sometimes we add the pink vinegar other times the jalapeño soy sauce, and another chili sauce that is incredibly rich in flavor (I've had to figure out exactly what goes in).
Parking is always a challenge in the international district but that's just par for the course. Be awesome to the servers because they are super chill, and tip heavy.
