I wasn't sure we'd be able to find a day-of reservation for a party of 9, but OpenTable led us here! Everyone was happy with the cocktails and food - service was quick, everyone's food came out together, and there was no trouble splitting the bill. Great service for a large-ish group!

We used to really enjoy coming to Moshi Moshi, but unfortunately, after tonight’s experience, we won’t be returning.

The service was essentially non-existent. Not once were we asked if the food was good or if we needed anything throughout the entire meal. We ordered edamame to start, which never came out — no explanation, no apology, it just never showed up.

To make things worse, our entrees were served at completely different times. One of us had already finished their meal by the time the other person’s entree arrived. It felt like we were eating two separate dinners.

The tonkatsu was also a major letdown. It was paper-thin, lacked any real flavor, and was oddly served with a sauce that tasted like A1 — not what you’d expect or want with a traditional Japanese dish.

It’s disappointing to see the quality and service decline this much. We’ve had good experiences here in the past, but tonight made it clear that it’s time to move on.

Like most of Ballard (and Seattle, unfortunately), you get $20 and service for $30. That said, they used to have THE BEST bento box lunch for a very reasonable price. Their vegetable tempura especially was fantastic, maybe the best I’ve had in Seattle. Unfortunately they’ve since closed for lunch and the few times I’ve gone for dinner I’ve been very disappointed, unable to finish the two appetizers I had ordered for a light dinner. The tempura I had ordered that night was thankfully comped, but it was a far, far cry from what I had consistently been served for lunch.

We were a party of 5 seated upstairs - I didn't know they had an upstairs area! Lovely food, service, and ambience. Would def go again.

Excellent quality! Everything was delicious start to finish. Great service too! I highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back!

While dining up at the bar with a friend of mine, someone sat next to me and ate his meal solo (we won't discuss the ear habits) whilst on a video call which was on speaker,
Very disrupting of our $200 dining experience. So loud I had to ask him kindly to turn it down. I know you cannot control those who dine at your establishment, but imagine my surprise when that person got up and walked away back into the kitchen. It was an employee. I just shake my head about the lack of awareness and unprofessionalism within the restaurant to their patrons.

Very good salmon nigiri and also had tuna and spicy salmon rolls. Not cheap, but price is fair considering quality. A bit noisy and had to keep asking for water refills. Otherwise very good.

Came for dinner before a concert at Tractor Tavern down the street and all of the staff were SO friendly and kind. The third person in our group was 30 minutes late, but they took it in stride, provided us excellent service, and made sure we felt good about timing, knowing we had a commitment later. They offer great quality sushi and fun cocktails at what I feel are very fair prices. We will be back!

I would 💯 recommend the Hamachi Jalapeño and Tuna love roll!

Lovely service but the fish is very low quality and the prices are INSANELY high. I paid $39 for a chirashi bowl with old smushy fish. It astounds me that I had to pay that much.

This is the best sushi in Ballard. Shiku next door is more affordable but the menu at Moshi Moshi is very well developed and has things I don't see often, like omurice.

They also have a designated gluten-free menu, cool atmosphere, and great service. It is a little pricy though, and I don't visit as often as I would like because of that.

It’s fine. Awesome people. Had the full gamut of Izakaya dishes and sushi, and nothing justified the cost. “Decent” Japanese food at “Amazing” Japanese food prices.

We had a very pleasant celebration dinner sitting at the sushi bar. Excellent king salmon and hamachi, 15% Tuesday discount on a bottle of sake, attentive and pleasant service, and tempura comped for our birthday.

I am from Chicago and read this was a top sushi place in Seattle. The sushi in Chicago was a million times better than what I got here. 2 nigiri for 26$ is what I can get for 8 nigiri in Chicago. Crazy and absolutely no flavor

You’re right, no commentary wasn’t right of me. I have revised the review to be a 3 star review after speaking to the chef (who was very nice) and giving this more thought.

Further commentary for the 3 star review. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is ok. I have eaten here 4-5 times and have been repeatedly disappointed by the lack of flavor of the rolls and noodle dishes we have ordered.
