Yep, this is it. This is the best Detroit pizza in Seattle. MFD’s has figured it out, and I’m so glad it’s local to the neighborhood. The crust has that perfect crispy but flavorful edge but still soft with the right amount of breadiness. The sauce and toppings are the perfect and the right ratio. We got a pepperoni pizza and the garlic jalapeno bread. The jalapeno bread was as incredible as the pizza. Cheesy, garlicky - I would highly recommend getting some. When I went in to pick up our pizza, I met whom I am assuming is Derek, and he was incredibly kind and enthusiastic. Can’t wait to order from here again soon. It’s worth the planning!

MFD is the best Detroit-style pizza in town. The toppings: all of the ingredients are top quality and delicious. For me the castelvetrano olives are the best, but the meats and veggies are all delicious. The sauce: Just right. Enough spices to be interesting but not so fiery that you mind. Creamy texture. The crust: Among the best I've had. Of brands actually from Detroit, at least on par with (IMO better than) Shield's. Buddy's has a special place in my heart and I might give them the crust edge but it's close. Well, close for now, because:The people: Derek himself is awesome. Very welcoming, very friendly, and full of energy. Derek clearly cares about pizza and is constantly looking at new ingredients and recipes to learn from and tweak.Other menu items: absolutely worth trying. Derek's coffee beans make a lovely cup, the jalapeno cheesy bread is the best cheese bread I've found, and others are solid too.Yes, you have to watch for calendar slots to open up and book in advance, but it's very much worth it - and it's days in advance, not weeks or months like certain other chains. Great things are worth the wait.I cannot recommend My Friend Derek's strongly enough. I love Detroit-style pizza, I've tried most of the other great Detroit-style pizzas around (including the ones in West Seattle, Woodinville, and Lynnwood, among others) and MFD is the pizza I keep coming back to.Parking: It's Fremont, so finding street parking can be tricky, but since it's takeout only you only have to find somewhere for a short period of time.

Incredible food, even better company! We came for the con and absolutely had to try it, but we ubered here and then realized it's 30 minutes to our hotel and we'd have to call another Uber... We were originally take out but we asked if we could dine in and they let us! Talking with them was very fun! They were both kind and it was fun talking about the con and the area. They also told us some awesome places to go! (And some to avoid lol)The pizza itself was delicious! I like it thick, and it was! The sauce was delicious and each bite was nice and soft but the crust was perfectly crunchy! The ranch also delicious(can you tell I'm white? Lol) and they let us try some kombucha that one of them makes and wow it was good! All in all if you want pizza, come here!

Derek is awesome and makes the best detroit-style pizza in town hands down. You could chalk it up to preference too but as a big pizza guy, this guy is it. Moto cooks their crust less so it's much floppier but it is fluffier too so if you like a softer detroit-style crust Moto is good, but Derek cooks it perfect every time where you get that delicate but firm crispy exterior and fluffy interior. Granted I'd say the pepperoni is too salty for my tastes personally, but that's also kinda par for the course for detroit-style as the cheese baked into the crust adds saltiness too.As for me I get the cheese pizza so I can really enjoy the quality of every piece of this, from the crust to the sauce to the cheese. It's so well made it's insane. Almost as crazy as trying to snag one of these as you have to make an appointment through his Tock. Recommend following his IG page and getting notified of new posts as that's how I find out about it.If you want a more accessible pizza I'd recommend Spark Pizza which is probably my favorite pizza joint around Seattle, but you have to trek out to Redmond. They serve neapolitan-inspired, detroit-style, and even NYC style on sundays (only like 20 pies though and people line up).

Not a fan of Detroit style, but tried that along with the regular pie. The Detroit style still wasn't any good but the pie was alright. Nothing too great
