This should always be the "go-to" for casual dining in Downtown Seattle. Consistently great.. service, food, environment. For this occasion, I had a cup of split pea soup and a salad with chicken. Wine was fantastic too.
Excellent service from Jennifer, great menu with options for customization, and just plain civilized.
We arrived at 10:50a and was greeted by a less than warm/friendly hostess who curtly said: we don't open until 11. Our server, Max, also seemed bothered once we were seated (at 11am) but warmed up a bit through our meal. There was a lovely young lady - sad I missed her name - who seemed truly happy to see us and kindly offered to take photos of me and my niece. The original hostess also warmed up a bit — but if it wasn't for the lovely woman who was genuinely happy and inviting, The soup was delicious ... the sandwich tasty ... the salad a bit overdressed, but overall a good food experience. If it wasn't for that one ray of sunshine (again, so disappointed that I missed her name) my rating on service/hospitality would have been a 1 star. I would return if just for that one lovely lady.
I took my three kids to the Nordstrom Grill downtown for lunch after visiting Santa (so sad compared to the old days of Nordstrom Santa) and was disappointed. First off, they need to figure out a way to clean the tile floors better, they are very slippery and we were seated at two tables pushed together which kept sliding apart the entire meal. Even with my kids getting frustrated and hardly moving, it was annoying for all of us! I asked to move, but the only available single table was reserved for the manager I was told. I chose the Grill over the Café expecting a better experience, but in hindsight the Café would have been the better option. Being in the basement gives the Grill an old-school, somewhat dingy bar-and-grill feel that I wouldn't expect at Nordstrom headquarters. The food was fine, but the ambience and seating made the experience a miss.
Food was so fresh and tasty. Sevrice was wonderful...looking forward to going back and try the other menu items ;-)
Had zero expectations walking in, but overall great experience! Our food was a little late (which we didn’t mind, it was busy) and the manager came over to apologize and give us free dessert / cookies. I never see restaurant management being proactive with service like that, we were impressed!

The food at the grill needs a refresh. Also it's very heavy with oil and grease. Even the salads are greasy. Also, I was between meetings and only wanted an appetizer - having food at my desk in the office - and I felt the server was judging me for not getting more food. So overall not great. The biggest help would be menu refresh. Normally I have really liked my servers.
I wish I knew our server's name, he has assisted us before and he is fantastic. I'll be sure to get it next time so we can request him on each visit.
Never thought of having dinner here before a show or a movie but what a great choice! Lots of options on the menu, quiet and relaxed, and so close to theaters, Paramount and Benaroya Hall. We will definitely eat here again!

I am a regular at this point but with great food and consistently great service, how can you not come back again and again!
Disappointing Experience Despite Kind Staff Member
I stopped by the Market Place Café inside Nordstrom while my wife was shopping downstairs. The woman who took my order, Rabecca, was very sweet and provided excellent customer service — she was the highlight of my visit.
Unfortunately, the experience went downhill after that. I ordered a burger and a water to go. When my food was ready, the burger was thrown onto the counter without a bag, which is disappointing for a to-go order, especially in a Nordstrom setting that’s known for hospitality.
When I asked about my water, another employee told me that I hadn’t been charged for it and spoke to me in a rude and dismissive tone. I had already checked out, and rather than apologizing or resolving the mix-up, I was met with attitude and no solution. At that point, I declined to do a second transaction — no customer should have to pay twice or deal with unnecessary hassle because of a staff oversight.
For a Nordstrom café, I expected a much higher level of professionalism and care. A simple bag for a to-go order and respectful service would have made all the difference.
Amazing santa chicken panini and steak cilantro lime salad, amazing service too!!!

Met 2 friends from out of town for lunch. I knew I could rely on Nordstrom Grill for a great all around experience! They did not disappoint. All 3 of us had one of their delicious salads. It could not have been better.
Excellent lunch of steak and blue cheese wedge salad. A quiet, relaxing atmosphere with great service by Cindi
