Seconding the reviews that the new owners killed the vibe of Outlander. When you came to Outlander, it used to feel like you were entering someone’s home. It was warm, inviting, quaint, and the furthest from corporate slop. What charm Outlander used to have has been replaced by decor that belongs to 2015-era Pinterest, oppressively bright lighting, and bland and generic food.

empty on a Friday night when Fremont is raucous. The Outlander under new ownership has more in common with a Madison park wine bar than a Fremont microbrewery. No more video games upstairs. Tiny eight dollar beers. Way to bright. And so empty.
This place sucks now.

Love this spot! Great beer, friendly staff, several seating options: open outdoor social seating, indoor tables, patio tables, and more intimate upstairs rooms -perfect for board games with a group.
It’s always great to see people preserve historic buildings and the improvements they made have really brightened up the place. Overall wonderful little brewpub!

Cool place with good beer. Friends said the pretzels were good but I would definitely avoid the flatbreads, I ordered one and it was absolutely no good. Come here for drinks not food.
I visited this brewery twice in the past couple months. The first time was in January (before the new owners took over). The place was dirty, run down, dark, dusty, and pretty pitiful. The beer wasn't good and the service was poor. I visited again in late March. The difference was night and day. The place was clean, bright, welcoming, and felt alive. The upgrades to the decor and every room made me want to stay and drink all day. The beer tasted way better too. I had the Mt Hood IPA and the Peanut Butter Stout. Both were top notch craft beers. The servers were also very knowledgeable and friendly. My group ordered two flat breads and the pretzel. The food was also fantastic. One can really recognize the care, craftsmanship, and time it took to turn this establishment around. If you want a dive bar which usually has DIRTY beer lines and subpar service this place isn't for you. However, if you're interested in a clean place to enjoy phenomenal beer & food, tons of room to chill with friends, indoors and out, and a super friendly staff then Outlander is definitely the place for you. Kudos to the new owners.

this USED to be coolest bar in fremont. then it was bought by some out-of-touch couple that literally white-washed the building, put up TVs, and tried to rebrand what used to be a true dive bar, into some kind of van-life-on-instagram fantasy. no thanks.

Great vibe. Even better local brew.Adam and Vanessa have done a helluva job resurrecting this establishment. And their hire of Carson was genius. Celebrate, frequent and savor this mighty fine joint.

EDIT: New owners, new furniture, new style. Menu is a little different. But the beer is still tasty and it's still a friendly place.Constant rotation of inventive beers. Friendly staff. It's just chill.

Definitely full of character, Outlander is definitely worth a visit. However, they just can’t compete with other local breweries in the quality of the beer they produce. Located in an old (seemingly unheated) house, they have a focus on interesting beer styles. While I am predominantly an IPA drinker, I would advise like minded individuals to branch out a bit when at Outlander. Their best brew while we were there was a barleywine. But overall, there is a definite funk to the beer, as well as the atmosphere. While I’d prefer to rate them a 3.5 if possible, they get a 3 due to the hit and miss quality of their brews.

Fast and friendly service. Multiple rooms to drink. Small pours available and as little or as many as you want for your flight. Nicely decorated.

Great beer in a house from the late 1800s. Jam night is also really fun as well.
