Palermo Pizza & Pasta Capitol Hill

My advice is to avoid Palermo. Several times when I've ordered delivery from Palermo, they've screwed up (deliveries not showing up for over an hour and a half, deliveries that were not what I ordered, etc.). When this happened most recently, Palermo promised they would give me a free pizza on my next order. Then they refused to honor their promise. This is not a business with which you want to do business.

The waiter was really prompt and attentive. The food was really nice and tasty. We tried garlic knots (3/5) and Veg pizza (4/5). Overall a very good experience.

My calzone came with marinara sauce inside which tells me this is not a real Italian place. I hate marinara sauce. Thats why I order calzones and not pizza.

We’ve been coming to this cute place for a few years and the food has always been great, the service is always good and the prices are affordable. There’s a wide selection of different entres and the ambience is always mellow. We try to come here at least once a month.

Honestly one of the better gluten free pizzas i’ve had (though admittedly the bar is low), but expect to pay $40 for a 12 inch / Medium… which is really a small. Also, I know gluten free crust is expensive.. but why must it always be a centimeter thick?? My rating is tragically low because of the crust, because while it is not bad, I only order pizza when I want calories. When I want to be full and still have seconds left over. That cannot happen when the crust is non-existent.

For context, my hand is the size of half the pizza

TDLR; Very grateful that Palermo is willing to cater to those with gluten and dairy allergies, but i’m begging for someone to stand up for the celiacs and give us a PIZZA, not a $40-$50 chip with sprinkles.

Some of the tastiest crust I have had on a pizza in a long while. Beautifully chewy and light. Appropriately topped to maintain balance. The Mediterranean salad was authentic and the eggplant parm sandwich was spot on. Nice table wine for decent price.

Chicken Parm was a huge disappointment. The chicken was so thin and over cooked, not even breaded or fried. The pasta and sauce was so bland. The lasagna was chalky and the bruschetta just tasted like raw garlic. I do not recommend.
