Pan de La Selva is a bakery quickly cementing itself as one of the best in Seattle, offering amazing, high-quality pastries that are worth every penny. The cafe has three main offerings: beverages, a hot breakfast sandwich, and an extensive case of pastries. The breakfast sandwich is tasty, hearty, rich, creamy, and a little bit sweet. For beverages, the cafe de olla cold brew is pretty good, and the Salvadoran coconut horchata is a must, being incredible and unlike any other.
The pastries put South American traditions on another level with unique, balanced, and unexpected flavors. Sweet items are not too sweet and all taste fresh. Standouts include the cardamom panela brioche, a real highlight with defined flaky layers and cardamom-y richness. The chocolate puerquito is outstanding with its salty sweet cajeta filling. The rajas con crema hojaldre is savory and gooey with outstandingly good, crusty and chewy puff pastry. Other favorites are the honey quesadilla with great texture, the soft and tasty conchas, the semita, the mango and pumpkin canela rolls, and the chocolate chip cornmeal cookie with chili sea salt. Flavors change seasonally.
The bakery supplies items to Bonito Café y Mercadito and Day Made Kaffe Bar. Its own location has plenty of seating and the customer service is friendly, nice, and courteous. A note is that they are open only on weekdays and close at 3pm.
