This amazing establishment provided chowder & bisque for the Classic Yacht Association's Bell Harbor Rendezvous over this last Fathers' Day weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed luscious bowls of absolute scrumptiousness, and appreciated their courteous, kind, and professional staff. Thank you!!! Highly recommend!
Must try if you visit the Market. Did not disappoint with delicious flavored chowder. Great way to warm up in the weather. Get there early before the crowd.

Terrible Customer Service - Not Worth the Wait
I had high hopes for Pike Place Chowder, but my experience was completely ruined by the staff's rudeness and unprofessionalism. After waiting in line for 20 minutes, I was letting others go ahead because I was waiting for my son to join me. Instead of understanding the situation, a young staff member rudely approached me, claiming I was blocking the line, even though there was plenty of space for people to pass.
When I asked to speak with the manager, I expected a reasonable response, but instead, the manager's attitude was even worse. He showed zero concern for customer satisfaction and blatantly said, "I don’t care," when I told him we’d take our business elsewhere. This kind of dismissive and unprofessional behavior is unacceptable, especially from management.
The level of service here is a disgrace. There are so many other places at Pike Place where you can get delicious clam chowder and actually be treated with respect. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this place. It’s not worth your time or money.
Disappointing Experience - Rude Staff and Poor Customer Service
I was really looking forward to trying Pike Place Chowder, but my experience was extremely disappointing. After waiting in line for 20 minutes, I was letting others go ahead because I was waiting for my son to join me. Despite this, a staff member rudely approached me, claiming I was blocking the line, even though there was clearly enough space for two people to stand side by side. She demanded that I step out of the line, which was unnecessary and disrespectful.
When I asked to speak with the manager, I expected some level of professionalism or resolution, but the manager was even worse—completely dismissive and rude. When I mentioned that I wouldn’t dine there due to their behavior, the manager's response was, "It’s okay. I don’t care." This is absolutely unacceptable behavior, especially for a place that prides itself on being a popular tourist spot.
There are plenty of other places at Pike Place with great clam chowder and far better service. I will not waste my time or money here again. If you value customer service, I recommend going elsewhere.
Shame on the manager for not knowing how to handle customer complaints and for allowing such rude behavior to represent the establishment. If the manager is rude what do you expect from the staff.
A true Seattle classic! One of the best chowder in the Pacific NW! Highly recommend grabbing this while you're in town - it lives up to the hype.
I got both the New England Clam Chowder and the Crab & Oyser Chowder. I liked the most classic New England chowder better but both were fantastic.
I also had the Connecticut Stylw Lobster Roll which was a treat. Generous serving of lobster, just one thing, it could have been slightly fresher.
Tip: If the place is packed, which is quite possible since it's small, grab your food to take out, walk through the pike place market to get to the terrace on the other side. There are plenty of benches on the terrace overlooking the bay, ships, and the piers!

We had a great experience despite long line but it was efficient and staff were friendly and provided great service including staff that monitors and cleans tables. We ordered a large clam chowder bisque, Dungeness and lobster rolls. All food items were great, the right flavouring and seasoning (I recommend butter over mayo). My only downside is the price, which is higher than I anticipated.

Witnessed Terrible Customer Service – Decided to Leave
While waiting in line, I witnessed a staff member rudely confront another customer over an unnecessary issue. The situation was handled so poorly by both the staff and manager, who showed no care for customer satisfaction, that I decided to leave without ordering. If this is how they treat their customers, it’s not worth my time or money. Plenty of better options at Pike Place.
Chowder was horrible! All I can say is either false reviews! Found much better local places

I ordered the marketplace chowder that had fresh crab, lobster, and scallops. It was the best chowder I have ever had! To make it more special, order it in the bread bowl. This place did not disappoint in their flavors and service. The dining area is small but they are great about everyone getting as many people seated as possible.

Went in for the chowder and was not disappointed. I could decide which to get so we had some of every one they had. So many great chowder flavors. The line up can be intimidating, but the food is worth the wait
Vegetarian options: The coconut lime chowder is vegetarian and delicious.

Delicious New England chowder on a cold day. The line moves surprisingly quickly! Cost of the chowder in a bread bowl was about 15 dollars - calorically, this is probably one of the better value items in the market (I certainly struggled to finish it)

Really enjoyed the market chowder with the bread bowl. But the sandwich was just ok. Didn’t expect it to be cold.
