Pizza is amazing. They just need to add more seasoning to the sauce and it for real would be one of the best pizzas in the area
We had a great time in Seattle before our cruise. My wife and I were lucky to get to visit the Pine Box twice before leaving. Jake was working both days and his customer service was top notch. We will go back.
Thank you Jake for making our trip great!!!
Relaxed beautiful bar that used to be a mortuary. Small bites and full bar.
Solid dive bar with Rock & Roll vs. Metal vibes. Formerly a mortuary, this bar is historic & was known to process legendary Bruce Lee's body before his funeral. Paul was my bartender that night. He was friendly & speedy. Megan was also nice. Enjoyed a nightcap & chatted with some locals.
We came here after our dinner nearby for drinks with friends. There was plenty of open seating inside and an outdoor patio that was quite empty on a Thursday night.
The bartender was friendly and patient with me as it took me awhile to decide what I wanted to drink. Looks like a chill bar to hang out in with cool decor.
Funky cool place
The pizza was absolutely trash. Completely burned on the bottom. The pie did not have char leoparding it was BURNED! Completely black!!! $18 for a 12” cheese pizza and they can’t even make it right.
I love pizza and this is the absolute worse in Seattle and Seattle has some of the worst pizza on the planet. I would avoid this place like the plague. Given it’s named the Pine Box and was an actual morgue in the past the plague might be around. It could just be living in the cooks brain, but who knows.
If you want good pizza in Seattle I would go to Dino’s Tamato pie which is a short walk from Pine Box. Dantini Pizza is also amazing and is a short distance in Interbay. It near Holy Mountain brewing and it is located in a distillery so you have great drink options there. If you like Detroit Style pizza My Friend Derek’s is the best. It’s in Fremont and it can be kind of hard to get. Download the Tock app to get an order in. It near Fremont Brewing and you can eat over there if you want to get beer. If you are in Capitol Hill go anywhere else for pizza other than Pine Box. Hot Mama, Big Mario’s, Cornelly, and via tribunali are all fine, but they won’t burn the hell out of your pizza.
I do not work for and I’m not paid by any of the pizza places mentioned. Pine Box just makes bad pizza. Don’t come here for food.

One of my favorite places in the area.
A very comfy place for drinks and pizza. The setting is nice and more spacious than you’d think. Lots of room to sit.
There’s a nice variety of accessible drinks. I really enjoy the pizza. They sit in a kind of middle ground between bar and restaurant but keep the best parts of both.
The kitchen isn’t open 100% of the time, so that’s something to be mindful of. But, it’s been operating all but one time I’ve visited so it probably wouldn’t be an issue.
Overall it’s a great hang out spot.

As a GF person, the kitchen was very kind and made sure i had lots to eat, even though they were out of gf crusts because of the football game.

I get it, it's a place to get drunk and maybe eat pizza. Here's the thing; if you're not going to have table service for drinks, clear a path to the bar so you don't have to shout over people sitting at the bar having a drinks. And the door guy? Nice enough. Very friendly. But when he checks our ID and sees we're from Canada, take a minute to say, "hey, you can order pizza at your table but you need to go to the bar to order a drink." We were obviously not local. We sat for a bit. Figured out the food app. Went to the bar to get a drink before ordering, and looked at the obstacles between us and the bar and total lack of service, and decided it wasn't worth it and left. A couple of people from our party stuck it out and stayed. They said the pizza was mediocre at best. Maybe they weren't drunk enough.
I'm sure it's a great place to get drunk and stave off the hangover with a pizza at 1am, but if you're looking for a place to hang with friends, have a couple of drinks and food, there are so many better options in the area.

We loved bartender Pierre’s vibe and chats. He helped us get a lay of the land and told us the history of the bar! The drinks were great and well priced!

Stopped by to meet some friends for a drink and food after a day of meetings. We sat outside to enjoy the nice weather. We were shown the QR code to scan for the online menu to order and open a tab. It’s a modern experience that I don’t encounter much. I put in an order for pizza, salad, and a pretzel. We went back inside to the bar to order a drink. The bartender was friendly and whipped up a great drink. The food wait was under 20 min. They make the pizza fresh which adds to the time. All the food was great. I did forget to close my tab, but it auto closed for me.

Great drinks! We were recently there around Halloween, and they had a couple of drink specials -- the Witch's Brew, which was a tequila-based drink served in a little cauldron, complete with some vapor and a blinking LED hidden in the drink; and a Pumpkin Espresso Martini, with a cool spider made from cocoa powder on sprinkled on the foam. Both were delicious and really stiff! Bartenders were cool and friendly. As most people know, the venue is a former funeral home, and is where Bruce Lee had his memorial service.
I also had some of their pizza, which was quite good. Pepperoni was really tasty!
If you're looking for a landmark bar in Seattle, this should definitely be on your list.
