The food was delicious and service was excellent! I had the fried “chicken” bowl, roasted pumpkin soup, and the Mac & yease and would absolutely recommend all 3 items. All of the food was very flavorful and they gave satisfying portions of each dish. My friends had the General Tso’s Cauliflower Bowl & the “My American Guy Cheese Burger” and both pieces I tried of their food was also delicious.
I’ve been going to Plum since it opened in 2009 + I had to get one last mac + yease before they close their doors forever on Sunday. It was as good as I remembered. I’m gonna miss the hell outta this place.
Plum Bistro has not only incredible vegan food and generous portions, but is also black woman owned and operated! Win-win-win. My friend and I went for brunch on a Sunday. When my Blackberry Mocktail landed on the table, i knew this was going to be a flavour experience! We shared two dishes...the Chick'n & Waffles (seitan) and a Rueben Sammy (pastrami Tofu to die for) w fries. My friends, EVERY BITE WAS DELECTABLE! Every time I come to Seattle from here on in I will eat at this restaurant and try something different from the menu each and every time. Just wow.
all of the food was delicious, and the servers were great. I had to go back a second time for the Mac & Yease. I also loved the mashed potatoes from the 'Give me veggies please' dish. Updated from previous review on 2024-11-16
Very, very good. Go out of your way to get here for an elevated vegan meal.
We were very disappointed with the food. The management adds a 20% service fee on the bill that doesn't go to the waitstaff.

The chick'n and waffles were good...underseasoned and missing a trick to bring the flavor profile forward, but a solid choice. I personally feel a large service charge added for staff insurance is a bit much. I'd rather this cost be included in the price of the food itself and not as an extra charge.
they do not mention the 20% gratuity anywhere before you get the bill. no reason at all not to just raise the prices 20% and be honest with how much you charge people. food is also extremely greasy

I never write reviews, but I had to write for this one. The food here has to be some of the most overrated vegan food out there in Seattle. It's not like I go to a lot of vegan restaurants but I feel the only reason it's well reviewed is because vegan folks here don't have other venues to go around so they all land up at plum bistro. I have grown up vegetarian and know what good vegan food looks like. The food at plum bistro seems lazy. You are gonna give me boiled broccoli, tossed in oil and a bit of salt for a $25 rice bowl? The tangy cauliflower dish I ordered seems like it had too much acetic acid in it making it almost difficult to eat. The fried mushroom dish was super oily and bland. Tbh, everything a home cook can cook at home, and much better than what's served here.
To the folks at plum bistro, spices and herbs are vegan and there are over 100s of them. Please learn how to use them properly in your food.
One more concerning detail that I found about the food here was the blatant lack of being complete, I shouldn't be talking about this, for food is an experience, but their bowls and main dishes seem to be majorly devoid of any protein, even the vegan lentils, beans or anything of that sort. It's all veggies, in their worst form, fried and devoid of any taste. The only dish I liked was the fried eggplant pasta, the pasta on it too was overcooked and the sauce way too tangy. The eggplant was fried. All in all this feels like an expensive salad bowl place where the veggies have been treated in a way where they lose their nutritional value, and taste.
I would never come to this restaurant again if I was paying. After receiving the food, it felt like I was being fleeced eating that boiled broccoli and munching of that fried mushroom.
The staff was very kind tho, the place and ambience is amazing. Maybe that's why it still had people around. Also the one star is for them. The food sucks big time.

Another good Vegan spot in Seattle. Capitol Hill needed one good vegan spot and this
totally does it.
The food is really good. I tried Red Lentil soup. The quantity was a little underwhelming but the flavours were outstanding. The Burger was good too. Comes with fries and they can make it gluten free.
As for the dessert I tried their cheesecake. To be honest I liked it better than the cheese cake factory ones.
Overall no complaints on food or ambience. However they definitely felt understaffed. I think they can use one more person. They forgot our dessert and had to remind them again. Also had to wait for a good time for anyone to pay attention to get us the cheque. The place for sure gets busy on the weekends so having a few extra pairs of hands with their staff is going to help.
Dietary restrictions: Glutten Free options available. They can make Burgers gluten free.

Food was great but the hidden 20% gratuity added which doesn't even go to the server was rediculous. Note for the owner: this will not get you far.

My omni fiance brought me here and we had an AMAZING meal. We ordered the calamari and it was amazing despite me (vegan) not liking mushrooms. It encouraged me to try the chicken bowl and I will say it was a little too much of the same fried mushrooms but I was so full at that point anyway. The beans and rice weren’t super spicy but I am addicted to hot sauce so that’s on me. My fiance got the burger and I was making fun of him for picking something so basic but it was PHENOMENAL and the right call. I would have switched with him if I could. If you’re the kind of vegan that doesn’t like things to actually taste meaty you definitely should not order it. We ended the meal by sharing the cheesecake despite being soo full, and it was amazing and worth it. We got a Reuben to go and I haven’t tried it yet but it did smell so good. It was worth the try after the burger turned out so good.
The cuisine and cocktails here were delightful. We waited a little long for our server to come around, but overall, the quality of the food and ambiance made this restaurant our favorite for the trip!
