I really enjoyed my visit to Rondo Japanese Kitchen. The service was quick, polite, and always smiling. Every dish we tried was tasty, well-seasoned, and fresh.
The restaurant has a beautiful and comfortable atmosphere, perfect for both intimate dinners and group gatherings. If you’re looking for great Japanese food with great service in Seattle, this is the place to go!

First time here on a Sunday for lunch. Ordered the bento for $25 which came with chirashi, a mini hamburg steak, a small piece of grilled mackerel, some tempura, and assorted pickles. It was a nice assortment of food.
For $25, I wish it came on better plating than cheap looking plastic. Japanese lacquerware bento or just plates would have elevated the presentation.
Seating is a bit tight and kept having people in tables next to us bumping into us or sitting on our jackets on the bench. Atmosphere is loud with lots of younger college-y kids.

One thing, Shoyu ramen is very oily… if they can make it less oily, I could finish it all

We were told that with our service animal, we can only dine in the outdoor seating area at this freezing weather in November. Under ADA,
businesses “that serve the public” “generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in ALL areas of the facility where the public is allowed to go.” Further, “establishments that sell or prepare food must generally allow service animals in public areas” regardless of whether state or local health codes prohibit animals on the premises.
There’s clearly a sign on the window of the restaurant, “pets not allowed except for service animals.” But the restaurant clearly has an unwritten policy that service animals are allowed in the entirety of the indoor dining area. That we are only allowed to dine with the service animal in the so-called outdoor seating area, which consists of nothing but a table or two without any chairs, is NOT allowing the service animal in all areas where the public is allowed to go.
An additional star is given to the staff for explaining the unreasonable restaurant policy with patience and apologies. But this doesn’t cancel the fact that the policy is overriding ADA and does not treat customers with service animals accompanied with equal respect.
Went to Rondo in Capitol Hill for restaurant week, and the experience started the moment we had to deal with parking. Coming from the suburbs, parking is always part of the equation, and we ended up paying since nothing clearly indicated whether free parking was available. If there was a free option, I wish that information were more visible for first-time visitors. Once we got inside, things got much better. The food was something new for us, and surprisingly, everything tasted great. Since it was restaurant week, the value made the experience even more worth it. The interior had a cool, modern vibe that made the dinner feel fun and different from the usual spots. Service and pacing felt smooth, and the whole visit had a positive energy to it. Overall, despite the parking guesswork, Rondo turned out to be a memorable and enjoyable restaurant week pick.

The atmosphere and location are nice. The food was mediocre, I got the fried chicken special, and the chicken was of subpar quality. There was lots of gristle and fat. The seasoning was good, however.

Better than Menya Musashi. Food is a little pricy but good quality and taste, portions are on the smaller side but artfully presented.

I’m really sorry to leave a negative review, but our experience tonight was disappointing. Our server circled our table multiple times without ever taking our food order or checking in to see if we wanted additional drinks. I ended up tipping my usual 20%, but honestly, the level of service didn’t come close to warranting it.
I ordered a whiskey flight and received no explanation or guidance at all — it was simply dropped off with no interaction. The server seemed hesitant or unwilling to engage with us, and it made the entire experience uncomfortable.
It might be best for him to continue bussing tables until he’s more confident and trained in actual table service. This level of service isn’t acceptable for a dining experience.

Ate here on a Friday night, had roughly a 30 minute wait time. The food was good, I enjoyed the crispness of the tonkatsu

Staff is super respectful and attentive. Food is great! However it is pretty pricey. This may not be something that the business can help since things in general are super expensive.
