Love this place. I was craving some Kenyan food and this place hit the spot. I dined in on a slow night with only 2 people working. The service was SUPERB! Our waitress was polite and made genuine conversation without hovering over us. The food was amazing, almost like home. My husband who is American said it was the best fish dish he ever had ( he ordered deep fried samaki). The only critique I have is that it took quite a bit of time to get the food. But given that it was a slow night with only 2 people working ( the chef and the waitress), I understood. The food was worth the wait.
I will be back again!
Best food all the time
I love this place because of the food. Authentic East African cuisine with a rustic atmosphere, that is reminiscent of a laid back setting. The personnel is kind and respectful and listens. You might have to wait a bit for your food, and the best way is to make a call and order 30 mins while planning the trip. It is not a Michelin restaurant but it is sure just a genuine local, “ungentrified” spot. It is surrounded by gentrified neighborhood and hopefully this spot won’t be pushed out of business.
Wonderful place to eat Kenyan food.
I love coming eating here. It’s the best restaurant ever.
First time trying this and it taste good! The cabbage had a sweet butter smell and it’s great with fufu. Goat was also soft and juicy.
Service was super slow tho, we waited for 25 minutes to get our plates. The utensils were not clean but they changed it for us.
It was amazing, we ate Stewed Kuku. The ingredients were fresh and the condiments were absurdly delicious. We loved it
Great restaurant with amazing flavors. Huge portions especially the fish. I appreciated the vibes and service. Heartfelt experience 💙💯
I call them at 2:14 pm to place an order for to go they told me order will be ready in 30 minutes. I go there after 45 minutes the guy who took my order told me my order is not even ready and there is 5 or 6 orders a head of me I wait another 30 minutes until I decided to leave and I will never go back there again
I was excited to try this restaurant after hearing they sold mandazi, which I was craving. After work, I stopped by and placed an order for dry fish, a veggie samosa, mandazi, chapati, and a ginger drink. The staff told me the order would take 5-8 minutes since I was the only person there. However, another customer(seemed to be someone they knew) who arrived after me received their food first. Perhaps he called ahead, but I was the only one visibly ordering at the time.
When I received my food, I quickly realized my samosa was beef instead of veggie, as I had ordered. When I brought it up, the staff said I mentioned beef and assumed beef because I said samosa. It could be that she did not hear me say veggie. While they did correct the error, I was slightly disappointed by the miscommunication. I also noticed the veggie samosa costs $3 while the beef is $4, which I had paid. Upon biting into the corrected veggie samosa, I was shocked by a strong raw fish smell and taste. I couldn’t eat it and ended up throwing it away, as it didn’t meet the standard of samosas I’ve enjoyed from Ethiopian, Kenyan, Somalian, or Indian cuisines.
The dry fish was well-seasoned, but I requested the wet fish sauce on the side, which I was told would cost extra. I agreed, assuming it would be minimal, but I was charged $3 for what tasted like plain tomato soup. The mandazi and chapati were the blandest I’ve had compared to Somalian and other Kenyan versions. However, the ginger root drink was excellent, and they provided a generous portion of ugali. The sukuma mix greens were decent, but overall, the meal was underwhelming.
While the portion sizes were reasonable and the ginger drink was enjoyable, the overall experience—poor communication, bland flavors, and the issue with the samosa—left me dissatisfied. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

Fish was top-excellent!
The food is so delicious here!! We got the N’gombe, pilau, sukuma, and mukimo. The ngahi were also super good!!! We got a drink next door at the brewery while waiting for the food. They brought the food to us! I thought that was so sweet. I could not stop eating the food. We have leftovers. I can’t wait to eat them tomorrow!!
My friend and I were very excited to try FUFU. We called the shop multiple times asking different questions every time and the people on the line were very friendly and very patient. When we got there, the atmosphere was amazing. It felt like I was in a whole new place. The food was phenomenal. The flavors were very rich very spicy. The food was colorful all in all. I had a fantastic time. I can confidently say I’ll back here with my family very soon.
