Madison Safeway employee abusive to patrons So I recently started going to the Madison Safeway because it's by my place. Not a fan of Safeway and my gut was right. I had a cart and was carrying out about 40 pounds of items from the top floor and down the stairs. As i reach the bottom of the stairs, a man in sunglasses who was a Safeway worker starts yelling "F u" about my cart at the top of the stairs (mind you not offering to help with a 40 pound haul to my car, and he's within a short walk to the carts instead of having to go to another floor to return the cart). I couldn't believe what I was hearing since I was actually saving work. And was like what? And he yelled F u again in a hostile tone and when I said "excuse me", he then flipped me off and it was scary from a grocery worker. I've never seen anything like it. Especially if he had been empathetic (he was not) he'd see me struggling with the weight, His anger and hostility and yelling at me despite me almost leaving the store was actually pretty scary. I put my Items in my car but decided to talk to the manager despite my fear. As I came up the stairs he saw me and said "you looking for me" in a threatening tone from behind sunglasses at 930 pm. He was obviously taking out a lot of rage and trying to intimidate me--him at 6+ feet. Are employees now allowed to wear sunglasses? I was scared but decided to stand up for myself. For this trip, I'd gone through self checkout so I didn't have to talk to anyone, let alone get abused. I refuse to let abusive men bully me. I spoke to the manager, and she did take it seriously. I also do not want this employee reprimanded harshly or fired. I want the corporation to take responsibility given all their profits.

Bad experience with deli department, bad customer service counter experience. Ordered food and they didn't have it at all

Good supermarket ! Highly recommend. Has mainly everything I need and it's usually a very fast checkout process when I'm there.

The Starbucks worker was SO RUDE. She was clearly frustrated and expressed this when I ordered 2 strawberry refreshers. She was extremely slow and wasted my time.

good store convenient parking and the selection is pretty decent-they aren't exactly fully stocked but they'll have all or most of what you need and all necessities forsure

Parking lot has people living in it.. junk strewn about safety and hygiene is non existent ... tried taking to management ... nothing is done. Our shopping has move to a safety and healthier experience. So a Albertsons "Business Manager" reaches out... want to talks.. no link or phone number .... A standard "contact us on our website".... Really a "bot" answer to a sincere review... no wonder the store is sinking faster than the stock...

Quite a mixed experience tonight. My husband has COVID and asked me at 11:30pm if I could go get him some nasal spray to help him sleep. Safeway is open till midnight so I headed over. One woman was so nice and tried really hard to help me find the spray but it wasn't her department and we didn't see it. I started to leave and saw some on an end cap, awesome! Grabbed it, walked down the aisle, grabbed body wash in that aisle on my way to check out, was in the process of grabbing blueberries - also just on the way to check out, no browsing - when someone I presume was the manager yelled at me that the store was closed. It was 11:55? But I was leaving anyway... She yelled that I better check out now or not check out at all. Let's be clear: it wasn't yet midnight nor was I loitering about. She was so hostile and it took me off guard. I paid and then said to her that it's not like I wanted to be at the grocery store in the middle of the night, but my husband has COVID and needed medicine. Her response: "That has nothing to do with my store hours." What compassion. We exchanged some words and she called me a bitch. I won't be shopping here again. Note: when I got in the car, the time was exactly midnight, so I did not affect her store's closing time. I have worked plenty of retail jobs and would never treat someone like this.

Worst Safeway I've ever been to. Rude cashiers and always some drama with weirdos walking in and pulling their pants down. I never go into this store anymore and I live a block away.

Women the deli ( Asian express) are so rude and bark at you. You try to decide .. bark bark. CAN I HELP YOU!! Blank face waiting for you to answer ridge away. Get your food and go. Next customer!! God! The meat in the Asian food is fatty and chewy. Ew

It has cheap food and groceries, and presumably most of the everyday necessities of city-goers. The deli food is by no means high grade, but for the prices it's offered at, it's to be lauded. I like the 8 piece fried chicken deal, and Jojos are good for the price too. Their baked goods are also a tremendous value for what you are paying.

I'm trying to be a better person. So I'm working on my weaknesses. One of my many weaknesses is not being helpful in group situations. So when I was writing my intentions for the day I wrote down, "be as helpful as possible". I know it's not that specific, but that's what I wrote. As I was writing that, my mother said she needed something from the store. I guess that was life's way of giving me a chance to be helpful, but at the same time it's so much more fulfilling to do things for yourself. If I went to the store to pick up stuff for my mom, I may have been depriving her from that self-fulfillment. Maybe the most helpful thing I could do was not go to the store for her. Then I realized she was cooking a family meal, so she wasn't even going to the store for "her". It was for everyone. I decided to not irrationally rationalize my way out of this and I went to the store. When I got there I was able to find everything relatively quickly, except for the pepper flakes and coconut milk. I was about to ask a Safeway employee for help, but then I thought, "would it be more fulfilling if I found the pepper flakes and coconut milk by myself". I came to the conclusion that everybody needs help sometimes and went to a Safeway employee. They were extremely helpful. They taught me how to do my own intention for the day. They helped me learn how to be more helpful. When I got back from the store I was thrilled to show off all the goods I had gotten. It felt good to be a bit of service. Unfortunately, the good feelings came to an end when my mother informed me I got the wrong coconut milk. How many different milks can coconuts produce?! I may have not been as helpful as I wanted to be, but I learned a valuable lesson. The next time I go to the store, I'm getting all the coconut milks.

Lots of new self checkout stations for a quick checkout. Covered parking in the garage beneath the store, and it’s free.
