A standout spot for authentic Mexican fare! I’ve truly fallen in love with this restaurant—the flavors are consistently fantastic, and the variety of dishes goes above and beyond what you’d find at most Mexican places. Be sure to ask about their specials; the Quesabirria tacos, in particular, are unforgettable—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. One small suggestion: I’d love to see the hot salsa made a bit richer to elevate the spice experience even more. Still, this place hits the mark every time.
Food okay bland but service great
I wasn't planning on having the best enchiladas (del mar) of my life this evening, but here we are
I tried giving Sal y Limón a fair shot more than once, but it just keeps letting me down. The food? Bland as hell—this isn’t real Mexican, not even close. Zero flavor, zero soul. Service is slow and sloppy, and after a few visits, I can confidently say it’s not just someone having an off day—it’s the norm here.
Only reason this isn’t a 1-star review? There’s a cozy little nook behind the bar that’s kinda fun to sit at. The ambiance is alright, but it can’t save what’s ultimately just a crappy restaurant in disguise.
Good portions, friendly attentive staff, good value for money, good vegan options.
Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options that can be made vegan. I told them not to add cheese and sour cream on my dishes and it wasn't a problem.

Appetizer came out at the same time as the food which everybody knows no one wants the appetizer anymore at that point. My order also came out wrong. My drink was pretty good, though.

Restaurantji Recommends
There are good meals and then there are GOOD meals. I ordered the vegetarian tacos my partner ordered seafood enchiladas. Everything was cooked perfectly and served piping hot by an incredibly friendly wait staff. Highly recommend.

Great service and authentic food. No baby changing table so you have to do it at the salsa station (or in the back of my car on Mercer with a bunch of rubberneckers).

Sal Y Limón is quickly becoming my go to place for dine in Mexican food. Exceptional service whether you're solo, in an intimate group or a larger party.
Everything on their menu is excellent, but especially the molajete. No free chips and salsa but the bean tostada is a nice substitute. Their drinks are delicious and I love the two-story wall of liquor. Always good ambiance and energy.
