This restaurant marks several dishes as vegetarian and say they will make them vegan. Yet when I came with someone allergic to fish suddenly they admitted that many of these dishes include fish sauce and oyster sauce. I had asked them about this more than once when they opened and they insisted they did not place those in vegetarian dishes. Being vegetarian is a moral choice for me and this restaurant has left me feeling totally disrespected.
A hidden gem for authentic Thai cuisine.
If you are on the lookout for authentic Thai food with a hint of adventure, Secret Savory is a must-visit. Tucked away yet vibrant this restaurant offers a cozy dinning atmosphere.
We began our meal with Lemongrass wines, which was both refreshing and aromatic. The wine had subtle floral notes with distinct citrusy zing of lemongrass. An excellent palate cleanser and a lovely start.
For the main course, we ordered Crab Fried Rice and Kang-ped-bed-Yang (red curry paste with roast duck). Both dishes exceeded our expectations.
Crab Fried Rice was a delightful surprise, with generous portions of crabmeat tossed perfectly into soft fragrant rice. Every bite was infused with the essence of crab and the balance of flavors was spot on.
The red curry paste with roast duck was nothing short of incredible. The curry was creamy, mildly spicy and well-balanced. Coating the tender boneless roast duck in a way that brought out its smoky richness. Pairing with lychee, longan, pineapple and coconut milk was just perfect amount of sweetness and spiciness.

Nice place, great friendly staff. Fast service.
Decent price and nice decorated dishes besides its taste good. Once I’ll be back in Ballard I’ll stop by for sure.

Amazing delicious Thai food that brings you decidedly away from the usual North American styled Thai food. The limited time fried curry Kabocha squash had an excellent crunch and relaxed flavour paired with a quality sauce. Both the Pad See Ew and basil fried rice can be found on other menus but these pumped up and presented a depth of more authentic Thai flavour than I've seen at many other restaurants. Service was very good and the restaurant relaxed even on a weekend night.

This place is wayyy overrated because it’s way over priced—especially for the amount of food I got! For $18 I got a cup and a half of green curry—they do not fill up the entire container like all the other Thai restaurants I have been to which is super disappointing! I pointed to it as the girl was prepping mine for take out, “oh could you please fill it to the top?” She replied “we only fill it halfway”. I was stunned! Almost $20 of food right there! I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Also, the rice was lackluster. These fancy Thai places need to carry basmati—not cheaper jasmine. The curry was also low on my totem pole for taste—I’ve had a lot better curries in my life and more for my money, too! I’m overall very disappointed in the lack of food they give here for the amount of money involved. ….2 stars was for the chic modern design and very clean atmosphere, though—at least they have that going for them!
Best Miang Kham! So hard to find this at any Thai place, but they have it and it's great.

Loved this place! Amazing food, large menu, and friendly/informed/quick service. I also loved the map on the front page of the menu showing the different areas each type of dish originates from. Cool spot!

Wish I could review the food except I got home with a container of curry only. Rice is part of the entree. Big thumbs down to places that don’t include it. Hopefully will be good leftover when I can eat with bread or rice…
My lunch was excellent. Crispy fried tofu, spicy sauce. I can't recall the exact name of the dish. It was with cabbage and carrots. I was disappointed to see the vegetables were not combined with the tofu and sauce, but were separated on the dish, so plain unseasoned vegetables. Being a veg lover I was okay with that, but husband not so much. He had the same dish with a meat instead of tofu. Rice was not included, but we were able to easily get some by asking. I had a wonderful drink, the name I don't recall I'll post a photo, and enjoyed my edible orchid (and my son's). He had a wonderful dish, as well. I really failed at getting the names of our dishes. Spiciness: we love spicy food. They rate on a 1-5 scale. None of us had been there before. Our son went with a 3 to assess. My husband and I decided on a 4, we do like spicier than he does. Our 4's were nice, we could have easily gone with 5's, but no complaints. We didn't ask for additional heat via sauce or spices, we were okay with the 4 for this meal.

Small and cozy restaurant, no wait at 7:30pm on a Friday for 2 people. My husband and I were greeted quickly and seated. We ordered the chicken pad thai, thai basil fried rice, and dried curry soft shell crab.
Chicken pad thai - 8.5/10 (4/5 spicy)
The noodles were cooked perfectly with a nice chew. The tamarind/fish sauce was an excellent combo of sweet and savory and an ideal amount to coat the noodles. We wished there was more peanuts and chicken. 4/5 spice is perfect if you like spicy food but don’t want a runny nose all dinner.
Thai basil fried rice w/ minced beef & fried egg - 6/10 (3/5 spicy)
The flavor was great on this dish, but the rice was really dry. The egg wasn’t runny enough. The prawns were very dry and tough to chew. 3/5 spice wasn’t very spicy.
Dried curry soft shell crab - 5/10 (3/5 spicy)
This entire dish ate very mushy. Mouthfeel was very off, just soft textures like baby food. We were expecting a dry seasoning based on the name of the dish, but everything was stir fried with a curry sauce which made the fried soft shell crab soggy. Not very spicy either.
Parking is located on the street, free after 8pm.
