Dint get me wrong, the burgers are the juiciest, cheesiest, greasiestin town. The only issue was that the salt was top generous. The Mexican tortilla soup was delicious.Would definitely go back, but not for the burgers. A lil but to greasy good for me.?

This is my kind of dive bar! Very good diner food.I love a great dive and they're almost impossible to find in Seattle anymore. The omelettes are fantastic and they pour rocket fuel drinks.I love this place.Be sure to bring your teetotaling vegan friends!(1/24 edit:) The Great Dane Burger is a bit intimidating... and fantastic. Easily the best burger value in the Seattle area.Vegetarian options: Bring all your vegan friends!

If you like the way the world is headed, don't come here. Things at Shay's are the way "it used to be."It still has a choice of sitting in the classic American diner setting, or sneaking into the lounge. Regardless, the waitress will call you 'sweetie' and gladly serve you a stiff coffee, or something stronger if you're of that persuasion.Shay's is a genuine "local" watering hole. Whether you sit out at the counter or back in the bar, if you strike up a conversation you're likely to meet your local blue collar worker or their spouse. Painters, sailors, machinists, fishermen and truck drivers are fixtures here.Don't be surprised in the mornings when they all argue over how much the showcase is worth on the Price Is Right. If you're lucky, you'll run into the 'Mayor of Shoreline' or Greg, the charismatic chef who's been working here for more than 40 years. If you're REALLY lucky he'll even tell you how he lost his hand... but that's not likely. You only live once, so have the biscuits and gravy, or a world famous mashed potato omelette. Their BLT is better than most and the turkey bacon croissant comes with thick pieces of white meat, not any damned sissy sliced deli meat. You'll tip well because they treat you well... and you'll be remembered next time. See you there.

I honestly think this is the best diner in the PNW! Best diner I've ever been to. I keep going back because the food is amazing. I always go for the eggs benedict and everything is so good! The service is always outstanding too and I like the atmosphere too, it's very old school.10/10 in my books!

We ignored Shay's for years, based entirely on its appearance from the outside, and on its location close to automotive repair establishments nearby. A few people recommended it to us, so we decided to give it a try. It has your classic American Diner vibe throughout, and the food is wholesome, and the portions are plentiful.I felt very satisfied and quite embarrassed that I'd written it off as a dive for so many years. The Prime Rib on Fridays is really great! We also had breakfast there one day, and it was also good. Highly recommended!

I've lived in the area my whole life & Shay's has been around for a long time. I appreciate it's "Cheers" feel and like singing karaoke & having good drinks there on a Saturday night. They used to have a bartender named Harry who kept the bar the cleanest I've ever seen it. He was kind & respectful with everyone. I don't go there on other days/times because the bartender who's been there forever isn't.If Shay's would choose to get Harry back, take care of the musty smell in the building, and get new flooring, the restaurant could become a neighborhood hangout you'd prefer to go to over other local bars.
