I have ordered cake from simply desserts before and always loved it. I ordered the London fog for my wedding anniversary and was very disappointed. The London fog syrup in the cake just tastes super sugary and definitely not like earl grey tea. The cake on the whole is way too sweet . I don’t know if it’s this particular flavor or the way they make their cakes has changed. This cake was not worth 70$.Before ordering a cake next time I will be trying a piece first and if I have the same experience I will not be returning. Also, the new decor in the shop is too instagrammy .

wow. this place has amazing cake. I appreciate the very unique flavors this place has to offer, the ube and london fog flavors pair so well. and both cakes are perfectly moist and sweet.

this place is such a great addition to the neighborhood, and i will be back to try more flavors! i recommend coming here over the brownie place up the street that serves raw cookies and bricks for brownies.

I've been a die hard To-Go customer for a few years now but after the new renovation I just had to stay and try their afternoon tea! The infusion of Filipino flavors made this high tea so special. You can tell the team here baked with their heart and puts their culture on ornate vintage tea plates with love. 1000% will be back!

This place went above and beyond for my custom cake order! I ordered 3 different flavors on top of it being tres leches and they exceeded my expectations! I recommend this place 100%, it was so hard finding a place that did custom cake orders in sea on top of the flavors I was asking and they made it happen for me.

One of my favorite spots for dessert in Seattle. They sell cake by the slice and it's rich, dense, and delicious. It's hard to pick a favorite, but the birthday cake is one of my go-tos. They're cash-only, so be ready for that. They also do whole custom cakes if you order ahead. But everything is really pricey here! Thankfully the slices are big enough to split with a friend.

I was thrilled to discuss my daughter's wedding cake plans with Simply Desserts. As regulars from Ballard, our absolute favorite was the white chocolate strawberry, which we often ordered for birthdays and special occasions. Naturally, it was a key part of our wedding planning.
We decided to order a customized 9-in for the engagement party in July. As instructed on the website and the outgoing voicemail, I promptly called to place an order for the cake. When I did not receive a response, I called again and left a voice message with my specific request and phone number, mentioning that I had already called once. That was two weeks ago, and I have still not received a reply.
Since this cake is totally worth the trouble, I traveled 40 minutes to order the cake, but they decided to close for the weekend without notice on their website, and despite only being open to customers two days a week. More than frustrating.
After some research, it appears that the lovely little bakery that was Simply Desserts has been acquired by armatures who lack business management skills and apparently experience in crafting exceptional cakes. They’ve reportedly ruined it with new, crappy recipes. The reviews are 100% negative with no more than 2 stars.
Heartbreaking to see this happen to a once lovely little bakery, and to know we won’t be enjoying that iconic cake at the wedding. But thank goodness we dodged that bullet!

What a treat to find bakery cake that is top tier quality. For those who like flavor over flash - this is the place for you. Cakes were moist and made with silky smooth Swiss merengue buttercream. Loved the pandan Ube flavor - gorgeous color and yummy filling. The cookies and cream slice has lots of cookies and the one critique was the chocolate cake for that needed more depth of flavor for a rich chocolate. Delicious cake that I would come back for! Slices are bigger at other bake shops but you won’t get the same quality of sponge cake

The cakes here have changed for the absolute worst since the new ownership took over. I typically do not like eating cake whatsoever, but over 20 years ago found this place. It has been the only cake I’ve found to be delicious, and consistent.

However, within the past 3-5 years you can tell right away there’s new ownership. The frosting is disgusting, the shape of the cake is terrible, the slices are much thinner, and they obviously cut corners to save on the way the cakes are decorated. They have not only changed the recipes of all the cakes, but have started to focus on things not a lot of people care about—ube this and that.. overdone, and fad following.

If you look through all the reviews and find people that have shown decades of loyalty to this place, you’ll see they all share the same sentiment.

I’ve lost all hope this owner will do anything to restore the heavenly taste this place used to offer, and that she decides to stop doing these fad/hipster things and focus on making the cakes edible again.

One of the best cake shops in the city! There's usually a good selection of cake slice options.

Food was representative of the dish but nothing was outstanding, and factoring in the price for most dishes you’d get a similar result at home

Simply Desserts is a fantastic spot for sweet treats, with their birthday cake, cookies, and brownies standing out as real highlights. The flavors are rich, and everything is baked to perfection. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall great experience. While the prices are a bit on the higher side, it’s understandable given the rising cost of ingredients like eggs. Overall, it's worth the splurge for such delicious, high-quality desserts.

I've loved this spot for a long time but I was worried when the new owners took over and the hours changed that the quality would go downhill (also they used to have this one very beautiful cashier I was half in love with but anyway) thank the gods! It's everything I remember and more. Made me very happy to know I can still rely on it. Their strawberry white chocolate cake (pictured) remains possibly my favorite cake in the entire world. Light, fluffy, perfect balance of sweet white chocolate frosting to fresh Strawberries and cream. There's nothing better. Thrilled to make this my new bday tradition. I'm gonna need this place to stay open forever. It brings me great joy
