No food service, but there is a street taco place around the block that I often visit before enjoying a few drinks here. Several varieties of imported Belgian beers are the specialty as the name suggests. Small groups, few booths, quaint and quiet. Not much has changed since I first dropped in 20 years ago. I should visit more often.

I stumbled (pun intended) into this bar and I really enjoyed the quiet and quaint atmosphere and kind service. Focused on Belgium brews, the drink selection here is outstanding. Go out of your usual choice and try something special.

The bottled Belgium beer menu was extensive for a small venue and some excellent Belgium draft choices. Bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoyed the pub style atmosphere.
Great sours
Best beer and atmosphere in the city
this is the best bar in Seattle and has been for a very long time. it does one thing (sour/lambic/belgian ales), perfectly. the owner is so thoughtful and kind, and every time i go here i find myself appreciating a place that offers something so different than any other bar in town. this is not the place to bring a rowdy group, and I'm baffled by the suggestion in another review that they should add TVs - that is an insane thought, a complete misread of what the Stumbling Monk offers. it is perfect as is!
This is the best spot on the Hill.

I really want to love this bar because I love Belgian beer. But good beer alone is not enough to make a bar worth visiting. I've gone here twice now, and both times I was left wondering how this place stays in business. It was mostly empty, with no music playing making it feel lifeless.
If they really want to remain a Capitol Hill staple, they need to think about how they'll attract more customers. For example, they really ought to serve food in addition beer, otherwise people will leave as soon as they get hungry. I'd also recommend adding some TVs to play European soccer matches. Something to give people a reason to return on a regular basis to watch their favorite teams.
Ultimately I'm rooting for this bar to succeed, but it's hard for me to justify coming back regularly.
