My band just played a show here this weekend, and it was a blast. The power was out before the show, but it got turned back on right before we were about to cut our losses.
Even though it's not the most bougie venue/bar in Seattle, there is a lot of charm in it's DIY-esque vibe. I'm not a drinker so I can't comment on how good the bar is. I've been here a few times as a patron as well and never once felt like anyone else in the crowd was a threat.

To sum it up, this place seems very niche, but it knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything else, and that's commendable in itself.

Great experience as a band. Highly recommend. Playing shows can be stressful for a band. But Chris, our sound guy, the bartender, and the bands we played with were amazing.

Both rooms had bars and pretty good sound. Good location to see a show!

Don't go to a sold out show here. Athere is a capacity of 600 and only two stalls in the ladies'. More than capacity jams into the main stage room. It's a horrible experience of people lacking self awareness and touching you.

Went to Substation for a Saturday night show and had a solid time. The venue is small and had an interesting stage setup. However there were several bars, better than average bathrooms, and I was not hot at all during the show. Would go back!
