Top end cocktail bar with very knowledgeable friendly staff and a cool menu! Upstairs is a speakeasy named Needle & Thread and it’s the best speakeasy I’ve been to. No menu, tell them what you like and they create something on the spot. No cheat cards or “if this then that” - these are expert mixologists who understand flavors and balance and do it well. They’re very friendly and engaging as well. Particularly Jacob, who made us drinks we’ve never had anything close to. Highly recommend.

I very much enjoy the exciting menu at Tavern Law. Whenever I am in Seattle I try and visit Needle & Thread. Bringing co-workers here for the personalized experience is craft cocktail enjoyment at its best. The mixologists here are possibly the best in the city.

My favorite craft bar. The barkeepers here know their stuff. You tell them what you want, sour, sweet, Smokey, and they will make it for you. The food is also great for snacking. I love the foie here.

Summary: Try other speakeasies for better cocktails!

Experienced the Needle & Thread speakeasy. We have been to bars with a "no menu" concept before and we really enjoy the concept.
However, this place was not up to the mark. For $30 per drink (extremely expensive), the bar tenders did not deliver the unique experience that we were looking forward to.
The cocktails were just over the top sweet, they did not know what real smokey flavor meant, and super diluted drinks. Extremely avg. drinks compared to what we have had in other places.
I would not recommend this bar, there are way better speakeasies in the city.

Ordered via Uber so can't speak to the atmosphere.
Was told by an authority on the matter that the Wings are "bussin".

I came from the UK to visit some friends in Seattle, and we went to the speakeasy Needle and Thread in Tavern Law. Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by the bartender with pony-tail who, instead of welcoming us, decided to make my first day in the city less enjoyable.

When you’re bartending, a smile goes a long way, especially when customers are friendly and engaging. I loved the unique concept of not having a menu, and I was excited to order my first drink. The bartender asked me to describe my favourite drink, which can be challenging for many of us who aren’t cocktail experts. We tried our best to convey our tastes, excited about the interaction. However, the bartender's attitude turned rude, making the experience feel more like an interrogation than a casual conversation. Initially, we thought he was joking, but when we laughed, he shot us a serious look, killing the vibe. Of course, he could have been having a bad day, but that doesn’t mean he should take it out on customers.

Drinks: Despite enjoying the drinks and the interesting "no menu" concept, we quickly realised this place wasn’t for us. We decided to save the rest of our night and headed to a different bar.

Atmosphere: The venue itself is cozy, nice and intimate, with a cool hidden entrance. Unfortunately, the tension and unease caused by the bartender overshadowed what could have been a delightful experience.

Food: The food was good, but there was a moment that stood out. The bartender asked if he could take our empty plates, and we said yes. However, he ended up taking our two-thirds full plate of chicken popcorn as the last thing, and he did it so quickly that we were left surprised. It felt like he wanted to kick us out.

Giving this 5 star review because the Lemony Snickett is the best sweet drink I've had in my life

Did the Needle and Thread experience and it was fab!
I had this cocktail in NYC a few years back and just knew what kind of undertones/flavors it had.. the hostess got all the notes right and the bartender did a great job at almost recreating the experience for me. Impressive.

This review is for ‘Needle and Thread’ speakeasy inside. It has a nice atmosphere and good food. We were visiting our friends in Seattle and they were raving about the service at this place, but sadly, this time we were served by this new bartender with glasses and a ponytail. He single-handedly tried to kill our vibe. He is a bad person and an average bartender, at best. He was very rude and doesn’t respect his customers. Maybe, he had a bad aura around him just because he was having a bad day but we will never know. We had to think before anything and everything before asking him because we were afraid that he might get offended. If you are never going to smile and have such poor social skills, you should reconsider your profession as a bartender.
