⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Comfort Zone Restaurant (Rainier Ave + Royale Esquire Club)
Tucked away off Rainier Ave, this Black-owned hidden gem has become one of my favorite stops when I’m craving comfort food that feels like home. The fried grits (a local secret not on the menu — ask for them!) were cooked to perfection: crisp edges, creamy center, and seasoned just right. The pork chops were tender and full of flavor, clearly made with love and care. I ate the food before posting.
Service is warm and genuine, though expect a little wait — goodness takes time here. Seating is limited at the Rainier Ave location, but that only adds to the cozy, family-style atmosphere.
Their second kitchen inside the Royale Esquire Club keeps a legacy alive. Founded in 1947, the Esquire is one of Seattle’s oldest Black-owned social clubs, built on community, leadership, and culture. Becoming a member isn’t just about access — it’s about carrying on a legacy of excellence. You can attend events, dine there, or apply for membership to support a powerful chapter of Seattle history.
🖤 Support local. Eat with purpose. Honor the legacy.

My son wanted Soul Food for his birthday and we found this place on google not far from our house.
The food was absolutely amazing and folks running the place are so nice. We are definitely telling friends and family about the food here and coming back again.

Visiting Seattle from Dallas and took a Lyft from our hotel for this experience. Very good food all around. Excellent customer service. If you’re in Seattle, check out The Comfort Zone.

Food was just alright. I wish I would have checked my fries before I left. Old, greasy, soggy, not good at all.

Food is always fresh. Be patient because they do get busy at times. Just know the wait is definitely worth it. Favorite is the fried chicken and the Mac and cheese. Highly recommended if your looking for good soul food.

My husband, my Son and myself dropped in to The Comfort Zone Restaurant today for lunch. We were greeted by the friendly, hospitable staff Tina, OG, and the Daughter of the owner. The food was delicious. I had the whole bone- in chicken wings, cabbages and mac- n- cheese. My husband ordered the wings, rice & gravy and collards; my Son had the wings and red beans& rice small plate(which had healthy portions). We ALL were delighted at the taste and quickness; every bite was delicious! Then they let us sample the fried grits and soul rolls; Both were amazing good. If it was possible, I would give them ten stars. We will be back and we will have them cater oue future events. We moved here from the ATL and this will become our Comfort zone for good food and good vibes.

I took my 80 yr old parents from South Carolina to the Comfort Zone for lunch. It was authentic southern cuisine. They raved about the pork chops, meatloaf, mac & cheese & the collard greens. Definitely worth a stop-in

The Greenpeace taste like they came out the can. This was the 3rd time my pound cake was hard. Catfish taste like something else. Not Catfish. It was very tasteful when ate at Esquire. And my 1st time at this location over a year ago.

Believe the hype! Deliciously prepared, perfectly seasoned ‘down home style’ soul food, smothered pork chops, oxtails and rice what??!! Friendly staff, generous portions, made fresh on the spot - meals come out temperature hot. Its good y’all, not a big restaurant - not much room for a sit down dining but the food is chef’s kiss! We ate and then bought more to go for dining at home later. Don’t sleep on this spot, additional bonus; restaurant is black and female owned! Sister girl knows what she doing for real for real!

I went and tried this place for the first time and man it was bomb I had to eat it in the car! I got the pork chop plate and they were perfectly seasoned and crispy, the chicken wings as well! My friend got the catfish and she said it was some of the best in Seattle that she's tried. The sides were delicious, I loved the collard greens and the Mac and cheese was so creamy and cheesy. The yams were good but I prefer mine a little sweeter. And the red beans and rice were good just need some type of smoked meat inside for added flavor. Overall 8.8/10. I'm highly impressed and will be back.
