I didn't know the original Octopus could be outdone, but somehow they found a way!

Not sure what was up the bartenders butt tonight but she was the biggest aunt I've encountered in a while! Great place... đ

Usually stop by when I visit Seattle bc it is a fun vibe. But wonât recommend anymore. Bar was half empty and bartender didnât seem to have any urgency or really care to be there. He saw me seated several times and just ignored. Going out is too expensive and thereâs too many places struggling to act like you donât want customers.
Great atmosphere, great food, good drinks. Great for a night out or just a few week day drinks.

Power tripping bouncer, no live music, non-operable arcade games, overpriced drinks. Avoid at all costs.

Preface: have been going to the Octopus since I turned 21 over 10 years ago and grew up near their original spot.
Popped in this evening at ~8:30PM on 12/12 for post dinner drinks and ordered a pitcher for us to split. After filling the pitcher up, the bartender told us she would not serve our group, took the pitcher away, and didnât even speak in person to anyone other than the person ordering. Perhaps we were talking loudly or perhaps she just discriminated on our group, but we werenât going to fight it and left, as arguing with a bartender is not worth it.
All of us were left appalled as we literally had a single beer each before this and had been looking forward to enjoying a Seattle classic spot. Doubt I will return after this experience and unfortunately no longer recommend the Octopus as a bar worth spending your time or money at.

I just go here when I can dance, so I am not familiar with the food or service. I know they generously provide water and people tend to drink a lot of the liquor.

Had a brilliant night at Octopus Bar. Great music playing and Arielle delivered me a perfect Manhattan twice. Nice sea themed bar with so much kitsch & charm. Sailers of all kinds can find good times here. Their kitchen rocks too. Great happy hour.

Kitsch king bar of all bars. Great Seattle vibe and the best staff around. Ideal for just about anything, unless you're looking for stuffy or pretentious. Highly recommend.

My friends and I used to go here all the time for their trivia night, until the last time we went about a month ago. The six of us got there and pretty quickly ordered food through the QR codes, I think a total of five of their appetizers. Three of us got drinks from the bar and the other three stuck with water for the start. However, the trivia host repeatedly harassed our table throughout the night because of a new rule that âevery single person at the table needs to have a drink in front of them throughout trivia.â He called our table out over the mic several times to go and order three more drinks or else we would be disqualified from trivia. And anytime one of us finished a drink, he immediately pushed us to go buy another one. Didnât matter that we ordered about $60 in food and $35 in drinks already. At one point, my friend got up to order another can of rainier, the host walked up to our table, grabbed the empty can and said âNice try with the fake empty.â and aggressively took it away. I later learned that he went right over to my friend at the bar and repeated the same thing to him. The host also said to him âare you going to buy your partner a drink too?â My friend gave in and bought his partner a fountain soda which was five bucks, flat, and room tempâŠ
I bought one of their thirteen dollar cocktails and was planning on having that one drink then switching to water, but once he made it very clear that we needed to keep a drink in front of us at all times, I stopped drinking my cocktail so it wouldnât get empty and I wouldnât have to go spend five bucks on a flat soda.
We were uncomfortable the entire time and honestly couldnât wait for trivia to end. Needless to say weâre on the hunt for a better trivia place and have been warning people away from here because of the crappy vibes.

Love this place! A great safe space bar. The staff has had a few changes recently and its honestly a great improvement in service.
Fine bar, but not a place to talk later on in the night as the music is too loud. If you are going for a drink to chat with your friend, look elsewhere!
