The flavors are deeper and the portions are huge. Staff is professional and the interior design creates a welcoming vibe. Leaving satisfied and full. Improvements in the kitchen are obvious. This is now my favorite.

Everything was spot on. Food was hearty, flavors were enhanced, and the decor is stunning. Service made us feel very welcome. Tastier than before and very filling. A perfect 10/10 experience for our group dinner.

Just had a quick lunch at Zula on Rainier Ave. It was pretty quiet when I was there, maybe 3-4 other tables occupied. Portions were decent for the price, nothing spectacular but satisfying. The staff seemed a little distracted, and the place felt a bit sterile – could use a little more life. Parking was easy, thankfully!

Okay, so I checked out that place on Rainier Ave. It was pretty quiet when I went, almost empty. The staff were nice enough, but honestly, the noise level was a bit much – definitely some loud music. Parking was a nightmare, people just parked wherever they could. Portions were decent for the price, but maybe turn the music down a little?

Was going to try this restaurant until I watched them walk their trashcan up the street and illegally dump there trash on a light pole next to the apartments. No class!!

Zula Restaurant and Bar offers a cheap food and drinks menu, which might sound appealing at first, but unfortunately, the overall experience doesn't match up. The service was frustratingly slow—we waited far too long for basic orders with little acknowledgment from staff. The atmosphere was equally underwhelming, lacking any real vibe or energy. Budget-friendly, yes, but not a place I’d rush back to.

My partner and I got the Full Habesha Plant-Based Beef Vegan Combo and it blew our minds. There was not a single thing on this platter that did not wow. And even though it is HUGE, we ate the whole thing, because we didn't want to leave any behind. If you get this meal, definitely get the extra injera (which is sooo good). The worker was also extremely kind and knowledgable. It was a treat to be here, and we can't wait to go back!

My partner + I split a veggie combo a couple years ago + we both thought the greens were too bitter + didn’t give ‘em another shot til we got a QR code for a free vegan sandwich (via the Intentionalist). I said “ruh-roh” when I saw the sandwich was full of greens, but we actually liked it! So we went back for the ful, which was a little underwhelming but good enough. The sambusas were the star of the show: greasy on the outside + healthy on the inside + served w/a sauce that sings. I don’t like Beyond Meat, but they get an extra point for having the biggest vegan menu of all the Ethiopian joints in the city.

My friend and I got the Full Habesha Vegan Combo and I seriously haven’t stopped thinking about it. This dish had so much variety in the flavors and textures and combinations. The shiro was my favorite, along with the collard greens/spinach, but everything was phenomenal. The man working was so nice and confirmed which options were vegan, although the menu is meticulously labeled which always puts me at ease. This is a new staple for me!

So many options and the menu was marked for vegetarian or vegan clearly. All dishes were very flavorful.

This place is the worst they do not care about being located in a residential neighborhood. They do not care about their loud obnoxious music. They do not care if it is blasted after 2 AM until four in the morning sometime. They don’t care about the illegal parking that often causes accidents or others to have to turn into oncoming traffic. Parking on sidewalks. It appears as though people almost live at this place as they come pouring out at all times of hours of night/day. Just inconsiderate of others

Parking: They don’t care where you park. They often tell you to park on the street, the sidewalk or wherever you can find parking.

Wheelchair accessibility: If you’re in a wheelchair, good luck because they make sure to block any wheelchair access by a parking their cars in front and on the sidewalks.

The illegal parking of cars by employees and guests results in accidents and obstacles for people with disabilities to move freely. The serving of alcohol after 2:00am results in constant disturbance and noise in the neighborhood.

For my husband and me, Habesha is one of our favorites. We always order the same thing: the large (for two) veggie combo. It's delicious and filling; we bring almost half of it home to heat up the next day. The price is very reasonable. And the proprieter is super-friendly and helpful. There's soft music in the background, not so loud that it inhibits conversation (a pet peeve of mine in so many restaurants these days).

Every time friends of family visit me in the city, I take them here to get a taste of the best food in the city! The owner is very kind and the restaurant has a relaxed, clean atmosphere. You can have a feast with your family or enjoy a quiet place to work.
