Not sure how other people are rating this place 5 star. The place has a great old school Seattle diner vibe but the prices are what you would pay for a fancy dinner place. Food is an average diner food but the prices make me want to rate the place 3/5. Too pricey for the food quality.

A nice diner near the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) in Seattle. I believe they only serve breakfast and lunch. Not dinner.
I had brunch of the Spinach and Mushroom Omelet. Very tasty, with Hollandaise sauce, shoelace potatoes and an English muffin. Large enough serving that I had some to take home for breakfast the following day.
There is a small dirt parking lot behind the building, plus on street parking.

It’s an American Diner with friendly staff! We love Patty and have been coming for years. The daily specials rotate and a lot of them are Mexican inspired .
They also make espresso drinks and have mimosas if you want bubbles with your breakfast.

Little greasy spoon on the corner. Food was served hot and tasted very good. We will return next time we are in the area.

I have never had a bad breakfast, or bad service at Varsity Inn! Patty, one of the waitresses, is truly a gem. She is so kind and goes above and beyond. It always starts our mornings off on the right foot when we see her.

To be honest not sure how this place has such amazing reviews. The food was a 3/5 at best and that's already on the diner food scale. We had two omelettes and two coffees. After a 20% tip out meal came out ti $68. If I'm going to eat shitty diner food then I expect shitty diner food prices. I would not go again nor would I recommend it. I'm only posting because I feel a little bit jaded after coming here seeing all the glowing reviews.

Immaculate classic diner vibes. Large portions of any diner food you could ask for and friendly staff who are constantly refilling your coffee.

Not vegetarian friendly or friendly in general! We walked by thinking this would be a great place to grab some breakfast burritos to go and walk down to the park.
Not only was the burrito 22$ but the host refused to make one without meat, and made us feel like idiots for even asking.
Thanks for being so rude, we’ll take our 22$ down the street - stone way cafe seems to have enough brain cells to conceptualize a meatless burrito.

Great food and service!!!
This diner has been around for...decades? My Monte Cristo sandwich and green salad and my friends tuna melt came rapidly. Good solid American cuisine from the 1950s!
There's not much left of old Seattle. Old's cool.. Family owned, not corporate. Very friendly service.
