Not the best coffee for the expesive price of $10 for a 16oz. Grainy and more milk than coffee.
It's gotten expensive here. I know from a prior response from the owner they claim they're competitive with other small coffee shops, but that simply isn't the case. I go to coffee shops all over the city (Ballard, Green Lake, etc) and they're not as expensive as West Seattle Grounds. With tax and a small tip, a 16 oz iced latte and a cookie was $15!
Coffee was alright and the matcha was chunky… we won’t be coming back
We were first in the line and it took 20 minutes to prepare 2 coffee and 1 burrito

Stopped in to grab a coffee with a friend last weekend and it was honestly the worst coffee both of us had ever had? I got my usual drink order (iced caramel oat latte with an extra shot) and the drink came out mostly all milk. Could barely taste the espresso. We confirmed with the barista that there was the right amount of coffee in it (there was not) and she added some more espresso but the drinks were not salvaged. After we left we also realized the caramel was not present either. Since it’s my usual drink order I know how much it usually costs. These were close to $10 each (definitely on the high $ end) and honestly unacceptable with how bad they were. Super disappointing and would not come back again. :(

Great atmosphere, excellent (!) coffee, delicious baked goods. First visit, we will be back.
A couple months later...
Been back three times. When the weather is nice, we can sit outside with our dog and enjoy the excellent coffee. Today was a brilliant sunny day in January and we did just that. Great place and great location. And best of all, excellent coffee!

The location seemed charming enough from the outside, from a distance, but this place was underwhelming and disappointing on every level once I decided to actually go there.
I tried a savory food item that was served lukewarm at best and lacked flavor. I shared a pastry with my spouse that was definitely stale. I'd say I would avoid the food the next time I'm there but I won't be going back.
The customer service was dismal. Not sure what the hiring manager is looking for in their staff but I'm going to go out on a limb and say "whoever agrees to the lowest wage, no experience necessary".
I'm fine with an independently-owned coffee house being slower if they actually produce a quality product. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I've had far better espresso at other places around West Seattle.
The place felt like it lacked a soul, and it seems poorly managed.
It must be a convenient stop for walking-distance locals, because going by the poor products I tried and the near-absent service I received, I don't understand how this place stays in business.
It's a shame, this experience was a cloud on an otherwise bright and sunny day of exploring local establishments along California Avenue. I wouldn't waste my money there again.

A really great atmosphere
Vegetarian options: I didn't know I was eating fake chicken so it must have been pretty good. The real animal product food is also good. They also have the artificial milks if that's your thing.

I just had the best little cold brew and blueberry scone today at West Seattle Grounds. This is a quaint neighborhood cafe with all the offerings you’d expect out of a coffee shop including matcha, teas, savory breakfast items, and sweet bakery treats. The atmosphere is both modern but cozy and the cafe offers ample room for socializing and getting some work done. Would recommend if you’re in the area and need a place to stop and refuel.

I love this place! One of the few places to change up their coffee specials! I loved the orange mocha and raspberry mocha! The matcha latte is great too! The young man is always friendly and smiling! Thank you!!
