Great atmosphere, excellent (!) coffee, delicious baked goods. First visit, we will be back.
A couple months later...
Been back three times. When the weather is nice, we can sit outside with our dog and enjoy the excellent coffee. Today was a brilliant sunny day in January and we did just that. Great place and great location. And best of all, excellent coffee!
Excellent Carmel macchiato

The location seemed charming enough from the outside, from a distance, but this place was underwhelming and disappointing on every level once I decided to actually go there.
I tried a savory food item that was served lukewarm at best and lacked flavor. I shared a pastry with my spouse that was definitely stale. I'd say I would avoid the food the next time I'm there but I won't be going back.
The customer service was dismal. Not sure what the hiring manager is looking for in their staff but I'm going to go out on a limb and say "whoever agrees to the lowest wage, no experience necessary".
I'm fine with an independently-owned coffee house being slower if they actually produce a quality product. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I've had far better espresso at other places around West Seattle.
The place felt like it lacked a soul, and it seems poorly managed.
It must be a convenient stop for walking-distance locals, because going by the poor products I tried and the near-absent service I received, I don't understand how this place stays in business.
It's a shame, this experience was a cloud on an otherwise bright and sunny day of exploring local establishments along California Avenue. I wouldn't waste my money there again.

A really great atmosphere
Vegetarian options: I didn't know I was eating fake chicken so it must have been pretty good. The real animal product food is also good. They also have the artificial milks if that's your thing.

I just had the best little cold brew and blueberry scone today at West Seattle Grounds. This is a quaint neighborhood cafe with all the offerings you’d expect out of a coffee shop including matcha, teas, savory breakfast items, and sweet bakery treats. The atmosphere is both modern but cozy and the cafe offers ample room for socializing and getting some work done. Would recommend if you’re in the area and need a place to stop and refuel.

I love this place! One of the few places to change up their coffee specials! I loved the orange mocha and raspberry mocha! The matcha latte is great too! The young man is always friendly and smiling! Thank you!!

Had an hour to kill, decided to grab a mocha.Service was fine, mocha was smooth.Unfortunately everything was spoiled by the gaggle of, what I presume, regulars. Few men and women, having a grand time riffing among themselves and with the staff. Atleast 3 conversations competing with each other inside the group. Each one rising over the other in volume. I attempted to outlast them for 20 minutes before packing up and leaving.Even with my noise cancelling headphones could not drown out the revelry. Glad they were having fun. Really ruined my time. Didnt feel comfortable approaching the staff about it, as they were actively participating, even while taking orders from other walk-ins.Thanks for the coffee though.

Pricey, gets busy, but one of the coffee shops that offers coconut milk instead of just soy, almond, or oat.

Nice little coffee shop. A few food/snack options. The breakfast sandwich was ok. Coffee was good and the staff (Thea?) was willing to work with us on creating an off menu drink.

Really tasty food and good coffee. A nice place to stop, although there wasn’t much seating available inside.
