Searched for "authentic Mexican" and La Guera seemed to be a good bet. Seemed a bit sketchy being a part of a gas station but the moment you step in the door, you know it's not a normal convenience store. The "wet" burrito was very good. The staff were super friendly. We live 2 hours away but are already making plans to come down to Shelton just to get good flavors.
Parking: The lot is for cars only but you can park a big RV or trailer on the back street. Food is "To Go" only but Kneeland Park has picnic tables and is a nice place to stop.

So, wanted some Mexican food and this place had great rating, so off we go. Did not expect the place to be in a gas station. But what the heck, we're hungry. The person working there was very friendly, service was excellent and my mulitas was excellent. My friend said her enchiladas were delicious.

Green sauce has a lot of lime but not much chili to it. Crema likewise bland. Chicken enchiladas were generous but a little bland. Pork filling was the most flavorful part of my burrito, but I still piled on the "spicy" sauce (and I'm an American-spicy eater.)Nothing wrong with the food, but nothing particularly special either.

The 4 taco special with choice meat(s), beans, and rice was beyond worth $11 and the 8 minute wait. Some of the best beans, smooth and slightly sweet, not too salty. I initially thought the portion of spicy salsa was insufficient, but it was just perfect.

We got 2 Cali burritos. They tasted good but were so dry. I know we said no sour cream but we thought it would atleast have some pico de Gallo. Anyway, we still ate them n drunk tons of water simultaneously. The hot sauce was good. All in all I recommend this spot.
