This is not a pleasant place. You will see usual and unappetising stuff. Unlike the CA locations, no mystery TikToker is sniffing women. Even so, there are also many mental breakdowns and domestics happening at this location, especially in the evening. It hasn't had a paint job the move. It's falling apart. Shelves have gouges and scratches. DO NOT SIT ON THE CHAIRS AND COUCHES. The store is not friendly to people who use wheelchairs. They have to have a person with them to help check them out because the counters are so high. The shelves are still super high. Everything was made for giants, except the kids section. I do like this about the kid's section. While it's saner to order online, no one desires that the location close. Its main issue right now is that it is catering exclusively to a very young, "queer," white, and middle-class clientele exclusively, and it isn't even doing that well. LGBTQ people are not a monolith, no matter what social media thinks. There are also black people of all kinds in Kitsap County. I've seen them in this location, yet the staff is overwhelmingly white and decorated with slogans and badges associated with Fringe Left causes. Imagine what these customers are thinking. No people who looks like you works there, but they are all "experts" on books related to your people. There is one Antifa/ACAB person who claims to be Indigenous. So this person is a minority, but they're also kind of openly threatening you. The only people this employee likes are older white men, with whom they flirt mercilessly. Some of the staff are great. They won't raise a fuss if you buy the Harry Potter merchandise, and they even grew up liking the franchise as well. They'll even help you find what you need. These people will not gossip incessantly about customers in front of customers. I like these people. I wish the entire store was filled with these people. The worst, however, is a sullen, nearly inert 20-something white woman with curly brownish red hair. None of us has ever seen her face because she is wears multiple masks. This makes her sparse grumbling unintelligible. Her, and staff like her, are committed to destroying the Capitalist system. They seem to doing a good job with this specific location. Displays of anti-capitalist badges and slogans are This location has ostentatious DEI displays. These are dreadful. I find them hilarious. Whether or not I find them "offensive" is kind of complicated. While I'm not offended they're there, they are embarrassing displays. They aren't like the ones at the library up the road. They will, for example, put up a "censored book" displays which censors anything they might find currently "problematic." Think of books like Maus. That kind of "problematic." The Transgender Pride display was just Jazz Jennings and LGBTQ flash items. I wandered over to this thing and was instantly disappointed. It's not like they can't find books on trans people. Naturally, these strange DEI choices and lack of supervision has attracted the wrong sorts. You get where this is about to go: I witnessed an extremely lewd public display between two women who "identified," apparently, as children, and some plushies. Some poor kid will get stuck with that toy. I hope the family washes it. In Summary: You're not an indie bookstore. You're a general interest bookseller and toy vendor in an area that historically has a large amount of Independent voters. You have people visiting from all over the Peninsula. They are probably more diverse than the Seattle/Tacoma crowd is used to, but if you get over it, you can increase your profits by including these groups. You do this by: --Setting a dress code. They already wear uniforms. We don't need to know their feelings on issues. Even if I agree with them, I'm uncomfortable. --Research the topics for DEI-related displays. Put some thought into your collections. Maybe you can ask the library up the road

The service is extremely slow. Usually I have to wait between ten and 25 minutes to order and get my drink even if there isn’t a long line. Today I went in there, and repeated my order 3 times to the barista to make sure she heard it, including that I wanted pumpkin cold foam added to my drink, it didn’t come with it, but you can pay extra to have it added. When I went to get my drink there was no pumpkin cold foam on it like I had asked for. When I asked about it, she said it would be a 1 extra and I told her I already paid and told the barista at the counter I wanted it, repeating my order 3 times to make sure she heard it right. She then asks the barista if I asked for it in my order and she lied and said no. That was the last straw for me. It is so unprofessional and rude to stand there and flat out lie, after how many times I repeated my order to make sure she heard all of it. I won’t be back.

We love perusing this bookstore and feel immensely grateful that spaces like this still exist. This store, in particular, is really well laid out and organized, and we love that there are always some new deals available, as well as highlighted new releases and special interest books. The staff are usually helpful and engaging, with rare exceptions. Though we have noticed that there tends to be a bit less book knowledge here than we've found at smaller, independent bookstores. Our only real complaint about this store is that there are some items that are not in their system for some reason, and if you are unlucky enough to happen upon one of these items, it is an ordeal. We had such a situation occur on our last visit, and we stood at the register for at least 10-15 minutes, while staff tried to figure out the issue. In the end, there was some hasty "patch," but no apologies or offers of restitution for the hassle. Instead, we left feeling like WE had done something wrong. Definitely not the finale we were hoping for after an otherwise fun shopping experience. Overall, though, this is a great place to spend a couple of hours and find most of the books on your "need to read" list (and some you didn't even know you needed - until you did):)

I love the vibe at BN. It’s part book store and part cafe. I’m thrilled to be able to order a title for pick up if I’m in a rush or linger with a book and hot coffee and desert. The staff is warm and friendly without being too pushy or fake retail. You can tell they appreciate books. The only minor tweak is that the Starbucks Cafe is not corporate owned. Only reason I mentioned it is that BN cannot redeem Sbux points. But that’s a minor issue. Overall Grade A.

Adult son loves their coffee, though too pricey for me.Of course, the surrounding books and magazines are "to die for".

Got a few gifts for my little family members for Easter. Especially the Manga section, my great niece is into Manga and can read one in a couple days. I hope my son and my other great niece's enjoy their books, I know they enjoyed their toys from Barnes & Noble.

Large selection - I find the store to be busy, hard to locate some items and quite expensive.
