Abysmal customer service. No care or respect for patrons alongside very mediocre food. Support another business, not this rotten one

SCAMS AND STICK IN FOOD ALMOST CHOKED I had an absolutely horrible experience at California Mexican Food on N Division. My family and I went through the drive-thru, where my brother paid with a $100 bill from the 1950s, which he had just withdrawn from Wells Fargo. Instead of verifying the bill, the woman working at the counter immediately accused him of trying to use counterfeit money. She confiscated the bill, claimed it was fake, and refused to return it, stating that it was "company policy" to keep counterfeit money. Despite calmly explaining that the bill was legitimate, she became increasingly hostile, yelling and berating us throughout the ordeal. Her behavior was shockingly unprofessional and downright insulting. She even made personal, degrading comments—accusing us of being poor and threatening to find us online to leave bad reviews about us. Her hostility was completely unwarranted and felt racially charged, adding to the humiliation and frustration of the situation. When we suggested calling the police to resolve the matter, she aggressively agreed, yelling, “Yeah, we better f***ing call the police.” While we waited outside in 26-degree weather for over 15 minutes, she continued berating us. When the police finally arrived, they confirmed the bill was real after verifying it at the bank. Only then was my brother’s money returned. By that time, the damage was done. To add insult to injury, the manager (a heavyset woman in red who refused to give her name) banned us from the restaurant, making this hands down the most appalling dining experience I have ever endured. Unfortunately, this wasn’t even my first bad experience at this location. During a previous visit, I found a stick in my burrito and nearly choked. Although the staff apologized, I decided to give them another chance—something I deeply regret. This place clearly has no regard for professionalism, customer service, or even basic human decency. If you value your time, money, or dignity, avoid this establishment at all costs. Zero stars

I'm sorry but this place I was NOT very impressed at all. I drove by here several times before comming in to give them a try. The Carne Asada flavor did NOT taste like I was thinking. Like a beef stew flavor with too much worstershire sauce and way too many onions if that makes any sense. 2 times I bit into unchewable cartridge or bone that should have been trimmed prior to cooking. Hot sauce was way to hot. The drink I bought Jamica tasted like cucumber drink. To top it off I paid almost 20 bucks and the machine asked me to tip. The whole tip thing is getting way out of hand. I paid for the food. The tip should be for table service. I pay for the food and nothing more so why the hell are you guys asking for a tip? Kinda messed up b8t that's just me.

It was Fabuloso! As in, it tasted like cheap cleaning product. It also made me and my GF feel sick. This is what I get for wanting something different than Atilano's!

Here's the good the staff is always polite and very efficient.

Here's the bad, pay with credit/debit and add a tip the owner keeps it & doesn't give it to employees who actually work for it. Always tip in cash.

Just wanted to update this. Woke up in the middle of the night with full on food poisoning. Never again!

Lacking flavor so bad it's almost offensive.

Tried 3 different plates. Chimichanga, torta, jumbo deluxe burrito.

The fact that the salt and pepper are mixed on the tables is enough to tell you they need a lesson on seasonings.

I treated my buddy to dinner here, and we were both very pleased with the food. I ordered the chicken burrito and a fish taco. While my friend ordered the Spokane burrito. The fish taco was not only delicious but surprisingly large! Especially compared to most places around town. My chicken burrito was also incredibly good! The meat wasn't overcooked, and it was so flavorful. My only complaint is that the sour cream and guacamole were all at one end. No complaints about the Spokane burrito from my friend.

Ok food, the drive through menu is a novel. Better know what you're ordering before you get there else you're reading all day. Pushy staff order now attitude doesn't help.

The girl at the drive through taking your order is one of the rudest human beings I've ever had the displeasure of having to deal with! All she says over abs over and over again is... Anything else! Anything else? Anything else!? Are you serious! If you want people to order food then quit being rude and forcing them to hurry up because you hate your job and Wana be doing anything else!!!! If you really want the best Mexican food in the valley! Or maybe even all of spokane!.... go to the El Sazon! Talk about amazing food! And they know how to treat their customers with respect and care! Don't even bother with this place any more! Go to El Sazon Trust me! You won't be disappointed!!!!!!

the first few times here have been ok. The food was decent, prices were good and service was sometimes reasonable. After being ignored in the drive through for over :20 min and no one at the restaurant, I decided to give the location another shot. This time I ordered my usual again ($7.99 chimichanga) but this time, Brenda gave me a total of $12.07 with no explanation. Online the price is still $7.99. Not sure the inconsistent pricing and service is worth sticking around for.
