I love The Monterey. It’s my favorite place to sing karaoke.
Tonight I dragged two friends there because the atmosphere is great and I felt like singing. When we arrived it was fairly slow. I put in two songs, then my friends each put in a song. One of them wanted to duet and I agreed to sing the male part.
KJ Zach Attack is great. He is friendly, professional, and fun. But tonight the KJ was Ryanne “Ryry” Nicole. Not only did she skip the song I put in, she put up both of my friends where I should have been. After I sang the duet she told me that that was my turn and that I would have to wait for my solo song. I would have rather sang one of my solo selections, but she messed up and put up a different person with my same first name instead.
Was this a big deal? Not really. Will I ever go to karaoke with “Ryry” again? Nope. I have hosted and I know how it's done. She, unfortunately, does not. If I walk in and she is there, I will walk right out again.

This tiny little spot is my favorite karaoke bar of all time of all the places I’ve lived. It’s radically inclusive, small and intimate, and has the friendliest staff that manages to get your drink orders quickly even on the busy nights. You can tell how great it is by how packed it can get on the weekends. They also have a free paint night every thursday where they hand out free canvasses and acrylic paints and brushes to paint while you listen to people sing. Additionally, they’ve been doing a SINGO event every wednesday where they pick a theme and put out a bingo board with a list of tracks that match that theme. People who complete a song in the square receive a raffle ticket and once a row gets filled they do a raffle drawing. It’s a really fun place to go with your friends and just blow off some steam belting out some great tunes!

Look, I love this place. The employees are always great, the pizza is great. I’ve been coming here since 2011. Unfortunately this place is extremely extremely unsanitary. They have roaches, the floors are plywood, how are they cleaning and sanitizing unfinished plywood flooring? When there are a lot of people up near the DJ booth, the floor literally feels like it may fall through. Last time I was there I swear me and a few others heard a loud “crack” when everyone was jumping to a song. The bathroom is so bad. I’ve gone in there to find the toilet seat literally on the floor. Not to mention, they have just the one very very bad bathroom, and well over 100-130 people inside the bar, all needing a toilet. If you look up, at the kitchen ceiling, you can see where they have tried to scrape the grease off. The ceiling literally looks like it is painted brown. I feel like some of this is a building maintenance issue rather then the owner of Monterey but I don’t think if I owned a restaurant and bar, that I could in good conscience, continue operating under the current state of the building, this really needs to be investigated. I really didnt want to have to leave a review like this for them but it’s really bad. Like dangerous. If there had been a fire the last time I was there or any type of emergency, the large group of people by the DJ would not have gotten out safely. And given the state of the building and the way the exhaust fan above the door smells of human hair, the chance of fire doesn’t actually seem unlikely. The roaches alone are terrifying. They are everywhere if you look.

A person that apparently owneds this place came up to a table and started yelling at them, to me that is completely disrespectful and rude . Yes this place does has cockroaches I have seen several of them. My drink tasted disgusting. I would never ever go back to this place and I hope they get shut down by health department. @Spokane regional health district please came here and do something about it

It says that this place is open we came and we sat out here for half an half to an hour to an hour waiting for somebody to come. My fiance contact somebody that works there and they said that somebody will be here in about 15 to 20 minutes and that was around 7: 45pm . If your not going to be open you guys need to communicate better by putting a sign out saying sorry for close or don't put it online saying that it's open when it's not and if I was able to send a picture I would.
One of the stuff that works here she is a female a little young she looks like she is around 20 to 30 years old the last time we came here. And told us that we had to wait outside in the freezing cold and almost got hypothermia.
This place has extremely huge cockroaches on the table and on the countertops, And they serve food and drinks. I was trying to eat my slice of pizza came up to my plate and I lost my appetite.
The bathroom here are disgusting I need to be deep cleaned. The barstools are broken and very uncomfortable. You guys should do better.

It took forever they only had one barista took a looooong time. But it was worth the wait and price!!!
Place says it’s open til 2. We had last call for alc at 1 am. Last song at 1:10 before we were physically pushed out of the bar. Never patronizing a business like this again.

From Canada. Ordered drinks. Card didn’t work even though it works everywhere else. Asked bouncer (because bartender was busy) where closest ATM was went immediately and were back within 5 minutes, because it was a block away. Bartender (big man) doesn’t let us back in the bar, says we didn’t communicate with him about us leaving. We are smokers and regularly leave buildings for 5 minutes to go for a smoke so never had a bartender just dump our drinks and cry over it “you didn’t communicate with me wahwahwah I don’t want you back here” plus he could’ve asked the bouncer if we left at all (because we literally could’ve been in the bathroom) and the bouncer would’ve said they went to get cash. Which we then explained to the big man and he wouldn’t take apologies and that we told the bouncer… dude is on a power trip for sure, according to the neighbouring bar too that we ended up and according to the other reviews here. So he needs to chill out.
