River City Brewing was very much a hidden gem. Located in the back alley of a building in historic downtown Spokane, river city had a lot more to offer than it would seem at first. This is a Family/Dog (family) friendly establishment though the space is fairly cozy. They have Mexican coke and other non-alcoholic choices for the young ones, but they do not serve food. You are more than welcome to bring food of your own to snack on, or grab food from around the way and bring it in. They offer outdoor seating and even have live music on weekend evenings. Their staff is friendly and their beer is refreshing."Hikes" in the area: Downtown Centennial trail offers some great views of the Spokane river.Ps: if you're passing through with doggos then stop by SpokAnimal Dog Park at High Bridge

This breaks my heart to say, as I have literally supported the business since I was in college in 2008 or 2009 when they owned a brewery in CDA and Moscow. I fell in love with the Vanilla Bourbon Stout, which is now known as the VB stout. I came home (Spokane) from living away wanting to take some buddies and show them, weren't open...now again at Christmas and again today not open. I am done, good luck but done fellas. My CDA growler was official, trash now and done with you.

Huckleberry Ale... Best beer I've ever had. Ever since college days at U of I I've been in love with this beer. Not heavy at all. Refreshing and has the aroma and after taste of huckleberry. Delicious!Passing through town I HAD to get some as I live 2 hours away and CANNOT find it here locally. Got a couple of growlers full as someone bought out all of their cans that day (understandable). I wish I had this on tap at home!As for the building.. small but welcoming. Had a tasting room vibe. Pretty sweet.10/10.. would HIGHLY recommend.

My wife and family love to visit this spot. My sister brings her two year old and five year old children as they are welcome in the establishment (even to sit at the bar) and they brew a rootbeer which the kids enjoy (even ask if we can go there!) The tap room employees are always friendly and willing to help you find something you like and offer a high five. They do not serve food (pretzels only) but allow outside food and encourage you to bring it in. Andy's across the street will deliver if you give them a call.Try the Riverkeeper IPA or a Black and Blue (half huckleberry ale with half vanilla bourbon stout)

River City was one of the last breweries Steve and I went to on a recent trip to Spokane where we had a few pints, samples and purchased cans at breweries that we haven't tried before out in that part of the state. For this brewery we had the Kung Fu Death Monkey, an IPA. But it certainly didn't taste like a run of the mill IPA. It had a fruity, juicy taste which really made this IPA stand out from all of the rest. And of course I had to buy their Kung Fu Death Monkey shirt as well... Nice location, looks like on the weekends they have local musicians play inside the taproom. No complaints about the service either as it was very attentive and very friendly. Great brewery and a bit surprised I haven't been here before since they've been open since 2012 but at least I got a visit in on this most recent trip!

Good selection of good beers. I kinda got coffee shop vibes on the inside. Outdoor seating is also available.
The bartender was very friendly and helped us decide which beers to get and gave us pointers on the ring game! Cozy and small space in the best way. Aesthetically pleasing atmosphere.

My friends and I enjoy coming downtown to hit the breweries after work on Fridays. This is one of our favorite places to go! Excellent beer, great staff and nice relaxing atmosphere. If you have not been yet, and enjoy beer, I highly recommend giving River City a shot. You will not be disappointed!Added bonus is the parking right next door!

Small little joint but very inviting and friendly staff. Stopped in for a quick beer, wish I would've had more time to go back. Great selection of beer and games inside.
