Friday's lunch special is great. I got the butter chicken and beef palak. It comes with a little salad, rice and naan. The rice is excellent, it's a little buttery, but maybe has a hint of saffron or something in it. The butter chicken is a crowd pleaser - I think most people would eat it. The beef was a bit tough and bland as the guy didn't ask how many stars we wanted (not sure if they ask at lunch) but I did ask for some spice and he brought me some hot dry spice. It could have been 5 but I think he forgot about us when we were done, we kept trying to flag him down to pay but ended up trying to get our own leftover boxes. I'd definitely eat here again.

We visited here for dinner. The waitress was attentive and friendly. I had a beef rice dish that was remarkably oily. The beef in it was full of gristle and many pieces were inedible. The atmosphere was okay. I would say that the other Indian restaurant next to Ace Hardware is moderately better.

Doesn't miss with food. Delicious:) even our 2 year old loved this place and had some curry. They do offer other kids options as well. I like this place better because it's not as crowded as the one in downtown. People were friendly. Will come back!

We went during lunchtime in a Monday so not surprising it was dead but the food was delicious like always, friendly service and wait times for food have never been an issue (I have gone when they're busy)

The waiter was most dour. Never smiled. I ordered Butter Chicken, and the chicken was actually pork. I also ordered Tikka Masala with beef. For both dishes I requested zero heat. The beef dish was too spicy. For both dishes the meat was tough.

A full bar. Good service. Lots of naan. Just not so good Indian food. We got the butter chicken (spice level 4) and chana masala (spice level 3). Spice level is 1-5. I was worried when my wife ordered at this spice level; I don't like my food super spicy. Neither of these dishes came super spicy. Though, the heat did build. Naan and rice comes with the dishes, and definitely no need to order extra. Even I got enough naan. The chicken was overcooked, and both dishes just didn't have the flavor complexity of a good curry. They weren't bad, just not super good. Seems like it could be a fun place, and they have some different dishes. Just need an Indian chef.

Same menu as downtown, quicker service and nicer atmosphere, great that it's on the South Hill.

Their food has impecable flavor, it is perfectly cooked, and seasoned. The service while slow, was very good and consistent. The restaurant was a perfect mix of homey, and high level dining.

Have been to the south hill location a few times. At first, I was delighted and impressed. However, we recently did take out for my wife's birthday and it was a big disappointment. The flavors were good, but the meat was low quality. I had beef in my curry dish and it was chewy and off-putting. Very disappointing and a bit disturbing. Seems they are skimping on grades of beef. The prices are not cheap (and their is a lot of low cost rice involved in an entree), so high quality meat is an expectation. We also had a couple of whole anise stars in our food which we both had to remove from our mouths during dinner and set aside. That is awkward. It will be hard for me to take a chance and go back here.

I would love to give a higher rating cuz the food was delicious! But this particular time I placed an online order. I walked in and nobody was at the host/hostess stand, no biggie, it was busy. But, there were also no signs with any information on what to do if an online order had been placed. I saw a shelf with bags of orders on it and just thought I'd check to see if my order was one if them. Right as I touched one, just to turn it to see the name a gentleman came from the back and very loudly and rudely said, "You do nit touch those! We will take care if that, but we're too busy right now. I'm sorry for working back here." In one if the rudest and most underhanded tones I've ever heard as a customer. Definitely do not want to eat there when that guy is working.

The food is FANTASTIC. Service from Shalabh gets six stars out of five. If you haven’t been here yet, go. If you’ve been here, then you know. So go back. Often.

Great menu. If you like it spicy, they will definitely accommodate. Had the vindaloo. The chili flavor was front and center. Personally, I would have liked a touch more vinegar, but that is me. Pakora and accompanying sauces were perfectly seasoned. Yum! Coconut Naan to die for.
