We were very disappointeed. The Kolaches were very small in size and not fresh.
Lucky us!!I first found my way to The Flying Kolache on a weekday, early afternoon. I had just finished reading Giant, by Edna Ferber and had Texas on my mind. Well, they say this place is a little bit of Texas, so I headed over. Not only was the pastry amazing, I had the most wonderful time speaking with two of the people there. We visited about the area, and talked about the beautiful mural along the wall. I had some classwork and found the environment peaceful, the coffee helped, too!The kolache pastry itself was soft and savory, "sticks to the ribs" as my grandpa would say. My favorite is the mushroom, which I found to be hearty and filling. Each pastry has felt homemade, nuanced and balanced. I am looking forward to many more visits!
Maybe kolaches are supposed to taste this way, but it tasted like old hard bread, and almost no sweetness. They were small and gave me a tummy ache 30 min later.
The kolaches were over baked or were day old since they were hard enough to hammer in a nail. Along with being hard, the dough was not sweet. The sweet fillings also lacked something and appeared as they may have been taken from a jar of Kirkland preserves. Very disappointing.
Yummy sweet and savory Kolache. Very friendly staff. Excellent coffee and tea! Our new "go to" for breakfast or lunch.
If you miss Slovacek's West or are curious about what TX kolaches are all about. This is definitely the place to go.
Not terrible but not your traditional Texas kolache. The bread is too dense and not sweet enough and too little of sausage for the amount of bread you get.
Ordered 900 kolaches for a work function through EZCater. Being from Texas, I was shocked so many people in Washington haven’t heard of kolaches! Not only did the Flying Kolaches have great customer service, they were also early, and the kolaches were delicious! It felt so nice to get a taste of home and introduce my coworkers to the delicious pastry! My favorite was the savory mushroom and potato and the sweet lemon. I’ll definitely have to take a drive from Seattle to Stanwood for some kolaches soon.
We ordered 105 kolaches for an employee appreciation breakfast and it was a hit! We got a mix of savory and sweet kolaches. Everything looked and tasted amazing. Definitely worth it to stop in or order catering.
We just moved to the area from Houston, TX so we were so happy to find somewhere that had a little taste of Texas!

The kolaches are soooooo good! We got a dozen this afternoon, and they are almost gone. Our whole family absolutely loved them, and the staff is very kind. We will definitely be going back. The apple/cheese and the pumpkin were my favorites. I will try the savory ones next time!
My spouse went here to get some items and an employee demanded he put a mask on when she herself wasn’t wearing one, hypocrite will not support this business!!
Friendly staff and great kolaches
Picked this joint at random for lunch time, never heard of a kolache prior to my visit. Customer service was top notch - fast, friendly, and informative! Had the spicy sausage kolache, and it was absolutely delicious - I am salivating at the thought.. I cannot wait to go back.
Never had a Kolache before, but wow these are fantastic! My favorites were the crème cheese and the spicy sausage. I could eat 10 of those cream cheese ones. Very excited to have this place in town!
